i don't know.
i don't think i did.
i saw him almost every summer for as long as i can remember.
and every time, when we were getting ready to leave, he'd give each of us a dollar bill.
i think it's because he was poor growing up. he wanted to give his great-grandkids something.
so now, dollar bills make me sad.
he told me stories about horse and buggies, which was how you got around when he was young.
he was in the hospital. he must have hated it. i remember he never wanted to go there.
i think now my parents don't have any father figures. my mom's dad died before my parents were married. my dad's dad died in 2007 and his step-dad died in 2006. now, their grandpa is gone and there's no one left for them to look up to. even adults need role models sometimes.
