What's Inside My Wild Mind
Anything. Stories, poems, random crap, etc. Take a look and see what really goes on inside my head.
A New Friend
Azrael sighed. "I realize that I need to take their armor away... I think that's what makes them so violent..."
Kirin put her hands on her hips and shook her head. "Kyatsu, could you go mingle with the other girls? Get to know them. Az and I need to have a serious conversation upstairs."
Kyatsu nodded obediently and hurried out the door, making sure to close it behind her. She could hear Kirin speaking to Azrael in a hushed whisper, but that was all. The door was thick and prevented any eavesdropping, which she was glad for. She sighed and began to explore the large house. It was modestly decorated. It looked nice without being gawdy, with only a few extravagant pieces here and there.
"It's the first of Incendio, and my brother would be eleven in six days," she said to no one in particular.
"Who's your brother?" said a voice. Kyatsu turned towards the direction the voice had come from and saw a girl not much older than herself.
"His name's Noah. I don't know if he's alive or not, but I'm trying to stay positive."
"Oh. I guess your family met with dumb and dumber?"
Kyatsu gave the girl a questioning look.
"The guards. Erik and Jaden. One's dumb, and the other's dumber."
"Oh. I see. Yeah, my parents met them... I don't know about Noah..."
"Well, keep thinking he's alive and maybe he'll turn up. My name's Lizabeth," the girl said, holding out her hand.
"I'm Kyatsu," she said, taking Lizabeth's hand.
"So, you're pretty new around here." Lizabeth leaned in and whispered to Kyatsu. "I've heard that Mr. Azrael decided he wants you to be his girlfriend."
"I've heard that, too."
"Yeah, but I bet he'll wait until you're older before he asks you."
"I bet he would, if he wants to ask me."
"Hey, lemme show you around. You should know where everything is so you don't get lost." Kyatsu nodded and gladly followed Lizabeth. "You're a Water Elemental, aren't you? I could tell by your hair color."
"Yeah, you're right."
"I'm a Fire Elemental. See? The curly red hair's a dead giveaway."
"Huh... I've never met a different Elemental before you. Do the other Elementals have hair like their element?"
"Yup. The Earth Elementals have this thick hair that's either brown or green. It's really tough-looking, but if you run a brush through it it gets really smooth. Air Elementals had really soft, wispy white hair that catches the lightest little breeze. Fire Elementals like me have bright red hair, that's always either curly or wavy, never straight. The Dark Elementals have this super-dark black hair that's always smooth, no matter how hard you rub it with a balloon. And the Light Elementals have really pale yellow hair that's always really short. They always wear it in kind of a bob."
"Wow. Do their personalities match their element, too? I'd heard that Fire Elementals had a powerful temper, but it took a while to make them angry."
"Yup. The Dark Elementals are always broody and glum, the Light Elementals are happy and bright. The two of them don't get along very well."
"I bet..."
"You should know this already, but Water Elementals are generally even-tempered until you really fire them up. Then they're pretty rough-and tumble. Air Elementals are generally breezy and speak way too softly. The Earth Elementals don't get mad very easily, but when they do, it's only safe to be in the air."
"You know a lot about them... Are any of them here, too?"
"Yup. Oh, here's one of the bedrooms. Usually three or four girls share the same room, except for the little kids. They can fit two in each bed, most of the time. There's a few bedrooms all over the place, an most of them are totally occupied, except for mine. I've got a grumpy Dark Elemental named Lucrecia, who gets on my case about being too happy-go-lucky. She thinks I talk too much. Do you think I talk too much?"
Kyatsu shook her head. "Not at all. I think it's nice to actually have someone talk to me to their heart's content. I didn't get a lot of that with my family."
"You're a really nice girl. I think we're gonna be good friends," Lizabeth said, wrapping her arm around Kyatsu's shoulders. They both giggled and continued exploring the house. Eventually they came to a mildly-lit room filled with black and red accessories. There was a medium bed with a thin black curtain hanging from four posts. "This is Mr. Azrael's room. He bought everything himself and didn't borrow a single cent from Miss Kirin to do it."
"Wow. How much trouble do you think we'd get in if we went inside?" Kyatsu asked, glancing in through the door.
"A lot. The only one allowed in is Miss Kirin, and that's because she'd kick him out if he didn't let her in," Lizabeth answered warily.
"He's a Necromancer. Of course no one is supposed to go in his room," said an emotionless voice behind them.
Kyatsu nearly jumped out of her skin, but Lizabeth just rolled her eyes. "Go away, Lucrecia. We don't want to be breathing in your gloom," she hissed.
"I just came to see the new girl. I'll be leaving in a few seconds, anyway. I need to find air with no joy in it," Lucrecia hissed back. Her gloomy grey eye glared out from a curtain of dark black hair. A ring of red surrounded her eye, and her lips were as black as her hair.
As soon as Lucrecia left, Kyatsu whispered to Lizabeth, "She's frightening!"
"That's a Dark Elemental for you. So gloomy that they could suck the joy out of a wedding day."
