Tuesday, July 22, 2008.

My Ninong (Godfather) had a bird nest on his roof, he took it down to this
place in our backdoors where there was a wall of another house right across us.
It was about two meters from our houses, or maybe even 5.
No one bothered it, everyone watches happily at the sight of birds a few
months old. Two babies--they were only a bit smaller than their parents.
They had a few feathers growing in different places, they looked funny.
I remembered the dead baby bird--a newborn that i have seen on the
ground a few weeks before. It had no feathers at all and was about the size
of a leaf. It must have fallen of the roof, many birds do...
I liked to watch them, but i dont think the birds liked that. I think they
should have been left on the roof. On the ground they wouldn't be able to fly
from lift off. A roof would give them privacy. But most importantly, humans
wouldn't interfere with them, with nature.

My younger sister's friend came over the other day--She's really fun to laugh with.
I continued to watch the baby birds from the balcony. It's parents were
on our drive way. My house was the last house on the drive way, so no cars
came on our side.
After I had dinner, I still sat at the table next to the clear glass door that
led to the blacony.
I noticed two boys bike towards our drive way, where
the nest was. I was sure that the nest was a main attraction now. I had a
bad feeling about them. They both dressed in black. One was a grade 7,
I've seen him at the park before--he was a rude, obnoctious runt, he was
a 5 year old in a 7th grader's body. The other boy was probably worse, he
knew my sister and my sister knew him--they were class mates but my
sister hated him. She said he once kicked her in the head when she
was on the floor when she fell. Now everyone hates him in that class. I knew his name
was Daniel.
Lo And Behold, they were interested in the nest---which was a box with
bedding and a bowl of rice and bread crumbs. "Put it in the basket," I heard
one of them say. I told my mother what was happening, and she managed
to "shoo" them off. But I knew they'd be back in the morning---where no
adults that care about the bird would be.

Thursday, June 24, 2008.

I looked at my breakfast, eggs with shrimp inside it. I thought i'd pass
for now. I heard yelling and other babbling outside a few minutes after, it
was them the two boys I really wanted to knock out.
"It's dead.Let's burry it." I heard, What!?Dead!? I watched from
afar, even though I had never-ending hatred for them..I was afraid.
I'm not a fighter, and I'm very timid.
I saw them tipping the box into another box, they tried putting the
dead bird their box. Then, the rode off. There was on other boy with
them, he looked a bit younger than the 7th grader. He sat on the grass
with the remainting bird--they one that was alive and frightened.
"Where's the other one?" I asked, i wasn't afraid of him--i've seen
him before,he's not bad.
"They took it away. They're ganna burry it, it's dead."
I knew why It died. I knew that if it's mother or father smelled human
scent on their baby--they'd ignore and neglect it. It's natural. Of course,
it died of starvation, it's parents would no longer feed it. And it's sibling
wouldn't be able to either.
They came again, I don't know what happened to the other bird.
I wish it would be fine--but with people like them..I think the bird
that is still alive..will end up like his or her's sibling.

This is what happens when we interfere with nature. Sometimes we corrupt
other life and have no idea that we have. Birds and other animals sometimes
neglect their young after they have been touched by human---maybe it's the
things we do to them. If we haven't maybe they would have been still a part of
family. Or maybe even blessed by their family if we treated animals equally!
Animals are being abused and mistreated everywhere --- because of us.
Habitat loss---because we keep cutting down trees and polluting waters.
Family Loss---because of habitat loss, they can't survive, a family dies
leading to other deaths.
