“Come on dai, let’s get you home.” zakuro ordered as he arrived at the bar to pick up his very drunk friend.
“zakuro I love you.” dai announced standing up, wobbling slightly, and giving zakuro a hug.
“Ok.” dai replied calmly. “Thanks for calling me.” He added to the bar tender as he helped his drunk friend out of the bar.
“I’m sorry I got drunk again. Don’t hate me.” dai apologised in a moment of sobriety as they headed down the crowded streets of Tokyo.
“It’s ok.” zakuro replied. “We have a list of who’s turn it is to come rescue you, it was my turn anyway.”
“You have a list? Good” dai announced.
“Yes. We don’t want you ending up raped or in an accident or something stupid.” zakuro replied. “You really shouldn’t drink so much.”
“But it’s fun.” dai announced. “You know what else is fun?”
“No.” zakuro replied ‘don’t say singing. Don’t say singing’ he thought quickly. “Singing.” dai announced making zakuro groan. Much as he loved his friend he hated his singing even more.
“That’s nice. But that’s my job.” zakuro reminded him. “I’m the vocalist remember.”
“Well I want to be. You can play guitar.” dai announced. “See I can sing. Want to tsukigami dj?”

“No!” zakuro's shouted throwing his hands up above his eyes so he didn’t have to see his friend being crushed by the truck. There was nothing he could have done to save him. Everything went silent and dai’s head was filled with images of what he would see when he opened his eyes.
“I want to be…” dai’s voice came out before that too went silent. Strangely there were no screams, no crashing. Just silence and dai’s voice “What the!!!!”
“dai?” zakuro asked reluctantly moving his hands away from his face. “What the!” he repeated straring at the scene. Nothing moved. Everything and everyone was frozen in place. The only movements came from himself and dai.
“What did you do?” zakuro demanded.
“I don’t know!” dai replied stunned. “I didn’t do anything. How do you know it wasn’t you?”
“Get out of the road.” zakuro snapped grabbing dai’s arm and dragging him back onto the pavement just as everything returned to normal. dai watched opened eyes as the truck passed where he had just been stood.
“You saved my life! You stopped time and saved my life.” dai stammered as he finally realised the danger he had just been in.
“I didn’t do anything!” zakuro cried out as he wandered over to a bench to sit down and recover from the shock. Sobered up a little from his near death experience zakuro sat down beside him and watched him with worried eyes.
“Well if I didn’t do anything and you didn’t do anything who did?” dai asked.
“I have no idea.” zakuro stammered. “Whatever it was it didn’t effect us. You saw it too. We were both moving normally and everyone else had stopped.”
“Yeah I saw it. I assumed I was just more drunk than I realised until I realised you were experiencing it too.” dai admitted.
“dai. Let’s not speak of this again.” zakuro decided looking his friend straight in the eyes. “Nobody will believe us. Let’s just pretend it never happened and be grateful you’re still alive.”
“Sure.” dai replied casually and zakuro glared. They both knew kodu would know almost the second zakuro left dai alone.
“Not even kodu.” zakuro glared. “It’s fine for you. They’ll assume you’re drunk. Me? Well I’ll be either classed crazy or on drugs.”
“Well that was your own fault for playing that prank on ishikawa.” dai reminded him. One day zakuro had successfully convinced ishikawa he was a drug addict. He’d even injected himself with water in front of the bassist to prove his drug addiction. Unfortunately he’d been a little too convincing and had ended up being tested for drugs on a daily basis for a whole month before ishikawa was finally convinced the whole thing had been a joke.
“Don’t mention that!” zakuro complained. “You know sometimes he still comes up and sniffs me after my cigarette breaks just to make sure I wasn’t smoking anything harmful.”
“Other than all the poisons in regular cigarettes.” dai announced self righteously before deciding he needed a cigarette right that instant and began searching his pockets for one. He found his last one and pulled it out noticing the break in the middle. With a shrug he attempted to light it before eventually succeeding.
“Isn’t that cigarette a little broken?” zakuro asked.
“Yep.” dai replied smoking it anyway.
“Give me some.” zakuro complained. “I’ve run out.”
“Fine.” dai sighed giving up his cigarette and watching the cars pass as he waited for kodu to become mentally stable enough to drive them both home.
“You can stay at my place if you want. It’s pretty late.” zakuro commented noticing the time.
“Sure.” dai agreed happily as he leant against zakuro shoulder tiredly.
“Come on. Let’s go.” zakuro announced suddenly standing up making dai fall onto the bench.
“No. Comfy.” dai said curling up to go to sleep.
“Those people are staring. There going to recognise us soon.” zakuro scolded as he pulled dai up and led him firmly to his car. He’d learnt from his past mistake. He wasn’t going to let zakuro have freedom. Escaping death once had been enough of a miracle for both there life times.
