I realized today that I'm better than I thought I was on my trombone. My band director, the awesome Mr. K, plays 1st trombone for the San Antonio Wind Symphony. He was showing me some of his music today, and I realized that I could actually play a good deal of it if I practiced for a while. I could play one song sight-reading and I could play two of the songs all the way through with some practice. The other two songs were a bit beyond my playing ability, but not so far as to be impossible. I really could go for the whole musical thing if I wanted to and put enough work into it. And hmmm... Depending on what the 2nd or 3rd trombone parts looked like, I might have been able to play those fairly well. I am rather proud of myself.
Oh, and I heard The Ballad of Bernie Roper today. Mr. Roper is my school's principle, and apparently Mr. K wrote The Ballad of Bernie Roper for some faculty thing last year. It's hilarious.
