Uh...Journal. Wait, no...Atren Graves's journal. Yeh...
Well, I'm just going to put random stuff, if it's all the same to you. Dunno why you'd read it. Uh, I'm pretty average. Nothing really special to talk about. So, yea, I think this covers it.
Just because.
Here's a few pages from my Harry Potter/Firfly crossover, as promised. If you don't know what Firefly is, I pity you. If you don't know what Harry Potter is, you should be disowned from the human race. HERE WE GO!
_____

Hermione Granger was confused.

She had gone to bed in the girls’ dormitory on the seventh floor of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, just like she always did. (Some might find this a strange name for a school, but if you believe in magic…)

Hermione Granger was a witch. A very talented and, at the moment, very confused witch.

Anyway, while she went to bed in her bed, she woke up somewhere else entirely.

Hermione looked around. For some reason she was in what seemed to be a muggle place, a warehouse if the crates and sheer size of the room were anything to go by. She stood, looking down at herself. She’d been so tired after a long day at Hogsmead, she’d gone to sleep in her muggle clothes she had a habit of wearing when the uniforms weren’t necessary.

She felt her pocket, comforted by the fact her wand was still there. At least she could get out.

She was about to explore a bit, but there was a sudden sound. Like boots on metal. Scared, she ran to a row of crates, about three feet tall, stacked two high, and hid behind it, praying she wouldn’t be seen. The footsteps appeared to be coming down the stairs she had spotted moments ago. They stopped not twenty feet away, and she didn’t have to try hard to hear the voices.

“Gorrammit Doc. Can’t you keep that crazy sister of yours from mucking around on my ship?”

Another voice, deeper, muttered something in what sounded like Chinese.

“Jayne…” The first voice warned.

“I’m sorry captain.” A third voice, cultured and slightly higher, broke in. “I don’t know how she could have gotten out of her room and into his.”

“She broke the gorram doors down is what she did!” The second voice (Jayne from what the first voice, the captain, said) butt in. “And she took Vera!” This last comment was accompanied by a strangely sentimental choke.

“Calm down Jayne.” The captain said. “It’s not as if she went for a walk. She’s still somewhere on she ship.”

Hermione processed this tidbit. At least now she knew they were on a cargo ship. Maybe, if she was very, very lucky, they were bound along the coast to England.

She was so intent on her ponderings and listening to the conversation, she didn’t notice the other girl until she was right next to her. When she did, she let out a muffled squeak and spun around. Standing in front of her was a girl, about 17, with long, unkempt hair, a pink dress, heavy boots, and a playful smile.

But what distressed Hermione the most was the large gun she cradled with one arm. She let her hand move to her wand.

The girl put a finger to her lips, hoisting the weapon a bit. “Vera’s playing hide and seek with us.” She whispered. “Jayne’s it.”

Hermione smiled nervously, not trusting herself to speak.

The girl nodded, creeping around the crate, still smiling. Hermione, through some morbid curiosity, followed her. From this angle, she could see the men, who were now arguing vehemently. There were three of them. One was big, muscular, and rough looking, with a scruffy bit of beard. Probably Jayne.

The one next to him, speaking very quickly in Chinese, was ruggedly handsome, middle aged, dressed in clothes that reminded her of an old western movie she’d seen recently. The captain.

The third man, ‘Doc.’ Most likely, was shorter than the other two, not as powerfully built, and also dressed in old west style cloths. He was young, but held himself in the way she’d seen many professors.

The girl crept forward, completely unnoticed. Suddenly she popped up, pointing the gun at them. “Bang! You’re dead.”

The others looked around, startled. ‘Doc.’ Looked relieved. “River…”

“What are you doin’ with Vera!” Jayne rushed forward, grabbing the gun from her hands.

‘Doc’ ran forward as Jayne lifted a hand, quickly standing in front of River. “Jayne. She didn’t damage it. And I’m sure she’s very sorry.” He looked pointedly at River, who rolled her eyes.

“Sorry Jayne. I was practicing.” She smiled.

Jayne looked up from the gun. “You should be sorry.” He grumbled.

‘Doc’ nodded and pulled River past him, leading her to the stairs. He was stopped when Jayne exclaimed. “Who the gorram hell are you?”

Hermione paled as the man spotted her. The captain craned his neck. “What’s goin’ on Jayne?”

Jayne stepped forward and grabbed Hermione by the arm and pulled her into the open. She struggled, somehow getting her free hand around her wand. “Let me go!”

Jayne smiled, holding tighter as she struggled. “Look’s to me like we got ourselves a stowaway. What do you think, Mal?”

The captain, Mal, frowned. “Another one?”

Hermione continued to fight. “I said, let me go!” She pulled her wand, pointing it right at Jayne’s chest, and shouted, “STUPIFY!”

Jayne was knocked back several feet, unconscious.

Hermione was breathing heavily, and it was a moment before she realized there was a gun pointed at her head. She swallowed nervously, gripping her wand.

Mal looked dead serious, finger on the trigger. “Now listen miss. We don’t mean you no harm. But that don’t mean I’ll lose any sleep over killin’ you if you don’t tell me right now what you’re doin’ on my boat.” He glanced over at Jayne. “And maybe mentioning what you did to him.”

River slipped forward, having somehow escaped ‘Doc’ again without his noticing, and waltzed in front of the gun. She stood sideways to Mal, smiling. “She already told you.” She took a step forward and flicked an invisible wand in an exaggerated copy of what Hermione had done moments ago. “Stupefy.”

Mal swallowed. “Simon. Mind getting’ your sister out of the way ‘for I blow her head off?”

‘Doc’, Simon, stepped forward, arms open. “River. Come on now.”

She rolled her eyes and ignored him, turning to Mal. “Aint no way to treat guests.” Her voice took on a British accent. “’Specially not them what’s so far from home.”

Mal pursed his lips. Finally he took his finger off the trigger, slipping the weapon into its holster. “All right.” He nodded to Hermione. “River’ll escort you to the dining area.” He gave River a pointed look. “And only there.”

River nodded. “Serenity don’t mind waiting to be introduced.” She turned to Hermione, grabbing the startled girl’s hand. “Come on. Later Serenity can show you her sky.”

Mal watched as River led the girl away, then turned to Simon. “I’m gonna get everyone to the dining hall.” He turned and headed to the intercom. He paused for a second, shaking his head. “Right, and you’d better go check on sleepin’ beauty over there.”

Simon nodded, walking over to Jayne, who had on a stupid smile and was mumbling to the bulkhead.

Mal watched for a second, muttered something in Chinese, and got on the comm.

“Wash, get everyone to the dining hall.”

“Sure thing cap’n. Uh, any particular reason?”

Mal sighed. “We got ourselves a stowaway that managed to floor Jayne. Young lady.”

“Again?” Wash replied, sarcasm obvious.

“Just get it done.” Mal said, clicking off the comm.
