Mizu's (S)Crapbook
The title says it all...
So there's this 3D animation program out there that you can download for free called Blender. You can get it at blender3d.org, or just blender.org. But anyway, I went and downloaded it, and the python script you need in order to run it properly. I also pulled up some of the tutorials for it, and I'm experimenting around with them a little, just because I can. It's really not that hard, the hardest part is remembering what buttons do what, and remembering to plug my mouse in. Which I of course didn't do today when I was messing with the tutes, so that probably has something to do with why my editing screen was randomly going black. At least it wasn't the blue screen of death, you know?

So anyway, I'm kinda hoping this turns out as easy as it seems so far, and that I can learn how to run it properly to do the things that I want to do on it. I've been looking all over for an affordable 3D animation program, and Blender just kinda came out of nowhere like a blessing from the Gods or something. Maybe if I believed in that kinda thing, Blender would be running better, but since I don't, well, it glitches sometimes. Which is fine by me, I'm used to things glitching on me, as long as it doesn't crash my system.

You're probably wondering how exactly I found this. It wasn't actually a web search or anything like that. I went to Anime Nebraskon 2008, and there was a panel on it that I really should have gone to but didn't, because I was hanging out watching a friend duel. Yeah, duel as in Yu-Gi-Oh! I'm thinking of getting back into that, actually... Anyway, off topic. Since stupid me didn't go to that panel, I'm basically working blind on Blender, but fortunately, there was a link to blender.org in the panel description, so I followed it, debated for a few days, bought a 3-button mouse (you need one for Blender), and finally downloaded it. I'm keeping my metaphorical fingers crossed that it's as easy to learn and operate as it's looking so far, because there are so many things I would love to do with this if I can just learn it.

And who knows? Learning Blender without any formal classes in 3D animation would probably help my chances in landing an animation job, or at least help me get some sort of scholarship for college!
