A long time ago in Virginia a young girl was born in a fatherless family. She was a beautiful girl with the brightest blue eyes and an infectious smile, and even though she had been born into an affair she was happy through most of her life. While her mother was in the Army she stayed with her grandparents living sometimes on the road in the motor home (where she learned to walk) and that at their home while many things happened. Her aunt had tried to steal her away from her grandmother, saying lies that she was being beaten. The cops couldn’t find a thing. When her mother came home she was relieved and she took Ashley home to finally take care of her in Virginia.
As her life went on and she became a toddler she moved to Kent, Washington and stayed there for a few years. She made friends with Nikki and the neighbor kids along with her old child hood buddy Aaron (whom she doesn’t have contact with anymore.) She was a promiscuous child, but innocent. She hated to wear clothes and would run around butt naked if she could, and on rainy days she would get in her swimsuit and jump in the puddles as if it were a pool. Her curiosity was beyond anything and when she wasn’t being watched she crawled through the fence to the pool and was about to jump in when some local people living in the apartments came and stopped her. She got a good scolding from her mother and started learning right from wrong. Her mother loved her very much. While she was in Kent something horrible had happened Christmas Night. She had been waiting for her grandparents opening the door every time her mom locked it, so the last time she opened it her mother forgot to lock it, and a man broke in.
He came in looking through the house and Ashley's mother was in her daughters room waiting to protect her, and when the guy came they got in a fight. He tried to kill her and rape her because the daughter wouldn't stop crying, but the mother won. The police came because Ashley ran outside screaming and crying and the male ran away once her heard the sirens. Because her mother couldn't take living there in Kent anymore she moved away with her daughter.
As she reached elementary school Ashley and her mother were going to move closer to the family in Edmonds, WA (that is still her home today). She grew up on ‘Poke’mon’ playing all the games while pretending she was one with all her new friends and the YMCA and with the local boys. Isaiah and Aaron where her best friends along with Jon, they were always by her side. She got more along with the boys then the girls because her only friend that was a girl was Morgan, and in the fifth grade she decided that Ashley couldn’t be her friend anymore. When she thought her other girlfriend would still be her friend she was wrong when the “populars” got her to get Ashley to come alone and all at once they surrounded her and beat her up. Ashley didn’t cry, in fact she just stared at them and waited until she was alone to finally cry.
Her life was never easy once she moved. Because she was a little tom boy people made fun of her. Guys down the streets would hit her with sticks and she would run home hiding once again to cry. The dog outside would chase her back home if she wanted to see her friend Chloe, and at school she could only play with the guys because the girls thought she was weird. Overall it shot her confidence. When she hit Middle School it affected her life so much that she cared nothing about her looks and decided to look like a boy or like trash.
Everyday she went to school with sweats and over sized t-shirts. She had only one boyfriend, but that didn’t last, but she did make new friends. Her love for anime, manga, and art got lot’s of people to enjoy her company because they saw how great one girl could be. Two of her friends stayed with her as her closest friends ever and that is Becca and Ariel. They loved her to death then and they love her now. It was during Middle School did she finally accept her sexuality that she did love girls as well as boys- she got her first girlfriend Cassandra.
It was a long distance relationship, the only kind that Ashley, at that moment could hold. However it wasn’t a healthy relationship. She tried to be a good girlfriend, but Cassandra harassed her, belittled her, and when Ashley couldn’t take she told Cassandra. The result was losing her girlfriend. They were off for awhile, and Cassandra had pretended suicide having her “cousin” which was really Cassandra say it was Ashley’s fault, and it killed her inside. It made her hate love and hate any idea of it. When she realized that Cassandra had lied about her suicide she hated it even more.
During her last year of middle school she got in another long distance relationship with a girl named Sherri after dating a few guys that were also long distance. No one at the school liked her so she couldn’t find anyone close. Sherri teased her heart and messed with her head pretending to want her then would not. Ashley fell for it most of the time all through high school until she gave up. She made a resolution to look good and it was something that turned her life around entirely.
She now is a Senior in high school with more friends then she can imagine and she looks far more different then anyone can say. Evolving from over sized t-shirts and sweets she changed into someone who cared about her appearance and wanting to show that she too can be beautiful like anyone else. Because she stopped caring what many people thought on certain things she unlocked a confidence in herself because of three people, Rachel, Chris and Daniil. Because of those three she evolved from a caterpillar into a wonderful butterfly.
Now she is loved by many, and one of which is her girlfriend whom she calls her “wifey” for three months. The two have gone through so much: love triangles, a stalking male, and countless secret admirers of both sides. They moved through all that and are still together. Ashley gave love another chance with this girl, and now she is a better person then ever. She feels happier with herself because of Faith, the love of her life, and the friends she had made and kept through her journal of life.
