Customer service is Dead!!
I have come to the conclusion that customer service is not what it used to be. Before my son was born I worked in retail. This was 10 years ago and man how it has changed. It used to be customers were always right and if a customer complained you were supposed to make them happy. Not in these days and times. I remember I got a talking to from my manager a couple of times for trying to explain to customers that it wasn't my fault that items did not ring the correct sale price. Customers would yell at me, call me names and I was just supposed to take it. Well a few times I did not!! Nowadays even managers are rude to customers especially the manager at the Target where I live. Here is a little backstory that made me come to the conclusion I mentioned. Target had in the Sunday's paper a movie that I wanted(RE Degeneration) yes I'm a geek and I like being one!! anyways it said it was available. Well since it wasn't supposed to come out til the 30th I was like cool. So I decided the smart thing to do was to call them and find out if the item was there. I hate wasting my time and gas so that is what I did. The operator told me yes it's here. It's in the back. I said good I'm coming to get it now. Guess what when I get there and ask someone from Electronics about it they say no it's not here. I told them well I called earlier and the operator told me it was here. (Now I know what stores think hey the customer is already here he/she will not leave empty handed. WRONG!! This royally pisses me off and if I do have any items in my buggy I will leave it and the damn store!! ) I digress sorry but bear with me so I go to the service desk and explain the situation. I say is it here? and if it's not why did the operator tell me it was. She got on the phone with the operator and asked her if she told me the item was there. She boldly lied and said no. I said why would I come here if she said no!! That is what I came for. I called today and talked to a manager. I told her it had been embarrasing for the operator to call me a liar in front of people. I asked her can't she find out who the operator was? She hung up on me. I know this would have been a simple thing to do since I used to work retail and they know who works what shift. Now I know at this time stores are hurting & they should do anything they can to keep customers happy and coming back. Apparently not the Target in Alabaster who could care less!!I don't put up w/ stores that have rude employees I just don't go back!! There are too many stores that I can get a certain item from to put up with this s**t!! This is mainly the reason why I do most of my shopping online. Ha which is what I did when I got home I bought it from Amazon which I should have done in the first place!! I believe big stores such as Target, Best buy are getting too big for their britches. Small stores want your business!! In these turbulent times stores should be glad we chose them to spend our money at because Hell other stores will have the item you are looking for and so will places such as Amazon. That is o.k. though I will not set foot in their store ever again!! There store in not the end all be all. It is not special in any way!! Does it mean much maybe not but it's my way of telling a store I don't have to shop here!! Customers should realize we have the power to keep a business open. We chose to spend money at a certain store. If we boycott certain stores for treating us rudely, lying to us maybe eventually they will get the message. I call EVERYONE IF A STORE PROMISES SOMETHING IN A PAPER & THEN THEY DON'T HAVE IT.DON'T GO THERE ANYMORE!! RUDENESS OF ANY KIND IS NOT TO BE TOLERATED BY A STORES EMPLOYEE BOYCOTT! That is what I do twisted
