(This story is not set in japan or near it, the names have another meaning and reasoning that McKay will know; This little story has not been checked for spelling or grammar so please don't do it for me razz ) The boy Keitaro, played with all of his brothers, sisters and cousins; though he was strong he always had a soft side which made elders worried for his future. He grew to be a strong male, able to do anything needed and was crowned the dominant hunter. Though the boy was great with strength he never even thought of challenging anything that the alpha, his father told him to do. He killed what was needed for food, protected the pack from any dangers. A year before the boy became of age to choose his own fate,he was sent out on a hunt in order to feed the new litter. While he was in the middle of his hunt of a cunning thicket of rabbits just down the narrow passage of rocks he heard the yelp as a sly demon murdered his father in Keitaro absence and took the throne. At his acknowledgment of his fathers death he let loose a bone piercing howl of grief. He attempted to regain power for his family by challenging the demon for the right to the throne. They circled each other, their teeth bared and low furious growls came from both of them. they were both waiting, waiting for either one to falter or to quickly attack. Keitaro was blinded with the lose of his father he fell for an obvious counter that snapped him out of his dreary state with a searing pain to his left side. Blood oozing its way down his leg and into the freshly fallen snow. he was able to get a few hits in but was taking to many wounds. He leaped at his enemy believing this will be the killing blow, to his horror he could not make a deep enough blow and was instead hit harder than he had expected, he barely was able escape from the battle and retreat with his life. Keitaro fled from the pack, knowing that he could never return. once you attempted to challenge the alpha and failed, you were killed on sight the next time you entered pack territory. So he fled to become a loner wolf, he was forced into this life a year before the right of passage was given to him to make his own choice; his journey as a lone wolf had now begun and he must forget his past.
Keiko grew up in a pack so full of life that it was no surprise that when everyone decided to go to sleep, it became almost unbearably hot in there small home in the hill south of the great mountains. Keiko, occasionally went for late hunts escaping the comforting heat for a brisk run and a hunt of the local rabbits nibbling away on the leaves outside. She was on the edges of the territory when she smelled two things other than her prey. The smell to the north east was that of a male, he didn't mean anything they don't bother her even if their territories do overlap a little, But to the south west there was a strange smell she has never held before. Alarms blared in her head, Predator screamed through ever fiber of her being, she must protect her family. She raced to her sisters and brothers, when she reached the mound before her home she smelled the rancid smell of blood and yelps from her kinsmen. She raced up to her home and bounded in, as she rounded the crescent she came to the site of a fox having its evening meal. Every hair on Keiko raised as she bounded to this monster, this demon beast killing her family. She jumped to only be met by clawed paws and she fell, she got up from this blow and started towards the beast again only to be swept to the side once more, but before the fox could finish her off a wolves howl pierced the quiet evening; the foxes ears perked up and it seemed to shake in fear, with out warning it ran off for sanctuary in its den, but Keiko had pasted out next to the remaining limb embodiment of her family. She woke in what seemed like forever since the attack, she mourned for her family but knew in the furthest reaches of her mind that she must run, and as far as she could before the fox caught up to her and finished off what it started. She thought about seeking asylum in other homes but knew that she would either live a life that she'd curse or be killed for trying to assimilate into another territory. She ran a far as she could, with pain and anger blinding her vision and clouding her mind.
Keiko ran weaving through ruts, around tree roots and over fallen trees. She stopped only to catch her breath for a second and as she did that she noticed for the first time that she was starting to feel extremely cold. Her breath came up from her mouth and out of fear and adrenaline she was off again, running as if her life depended on it. Keitaro ran through the pass, with every painful emotion swimming through his head. It was extremely hard to control his body as he ran through the terrain and finally collapsed near a stream. His mind cleared and he knew only one thing, hunger; a hunger like that he has never experienced before. It was no point staying here and tripping over his past, so he started a hunt off his own order. The odor of a small mammal was just down the path, he rushed towards it with a feverish hunger. Keiko ran around the bend and right as she jumped over a rock covered by snow, she was hit and pinned to the ground by a huge wolf. Keiko looked into sharp white teeth of the predator over her pressing her into the dirt, she was terrified, everything she had been holding with her small frame seem to just burst from her all at once as the wolf let out a growl. Keitaro watched the poor thing squirm under its paw and as it growled before the his jaws was about to take its like and thats when he stopped. He could not bring himself to take this poor souls life, he lifted his paw off of it and started walking off for new prey. Keiko ranaway from the wolf not knowing her luck but didn't question it, as she ran she started wondering "why? why?". She stopped and for some unknown reason she went towards the wolf. Keitaro trugged on, soon he found himself in the inners of a shallow cave and feasting on two small rabbits. As he finished the first, he smelled the familiar smell of that poor mammal he'd came to before. He looked behind him and saw the starving eyes of the poor mink, he pawed the other rabbit towards the mink and backed off; she moved towards the rabbit cautiously and then once she was close enough she ate half of the rabbit as fast as possible. Once the poor thing finished, Keitaro finished the rabbit off and threw it to the side. Keitaro layed down and started to fade away until he noticed the small mink shivering in the corner of the cave. Keiko layed after the meal and shivered as she tryed to go to sleep, but she was to cold. As she layed there a sudden warmth went over her as the wolf layed down right in front of her, even though it seemed foreign she curled up the the breast of the wolf, comforted by the familiar feeling of being over heated. Keitaro satisfyingly curled around the small mink and dozed with the small animal pressed against himself and the sight of the snow falling over the mountain pass.
