So We had about 19 people here not including staff of Vintage Jesus. I think the best part of Being together is hanging out and asking and answering questions about God. I like having honest discussions about what people believe and having a chance to explain what I believe.
A lot of people think that Christians believe in being cruel to nonbelievers because that is what they have seen on t.v. or experienced first hand. I like having the chance to tell people that , Christianity is not about shunning or being cruel to people. Most of the people who do stuff like that don't understand the true message of the Bible and the teachings of Jesus.
Jesus often hung out with people that the priests of his time would not talk to. This is form the book of Matthew in the Bible Later when Jesus was eating supper at Matthew's house with his close followers, a lot of disreputable characters came and joined them. When the Pharisees saw him keeping this kind of company, they had a fit, and lit into Jesus' followers. "What kind of example is this from your Teacher, acting cozy with crooks and riffraff?"
12-13Jesus, overhearing, shot back, "Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? Go figure out what this Scripture means: 'I'm after mercy, not religion.' I'm here to invite outsiders, not coddle insiders."
Jesus did not do the same things as these people but he was nice to them and willing to eat with them and talk to them. it is important for me to do this as a Christian today. smile
