Magical Art - Runic Creativity

A rare form of magic rarely seen nowadays. Creative magics are thought to be extinct, and therefore the study of them are left to scholars and other intellectuals. It has been discovered that this was the only art that required an exterior focus to work, usually in the form of written words or symbols. It is unknown what kind of magics that was used with these words, but it is speculated more estoric magics, like Temporal, Spacial, Force, and Emotion were used in this system. This is only a guess, judging by the magical artifacts and scant few writings left behind by civilizations long gone.

Like elemental and dark magic, runic had a hierarchy of sorts.

Rune Scribe - They could write out runes, but not activate them. They could still fight with there runes (some are assumed to be passive, write them and they affect others), but were mainly used to supply the Knights with weapons, armor, and spells.

Rune Knight - They could activate runes, but not write them. Unlike the scribes, they could use active runes, granting them estoric powers. While not more powerful then a Priest or Mage of the same level, runes had off the wall, hard-to-predict effects. Knights were feared combatants....but if removed from there runes, they lost there spellwork.

Rune Lord - Unique among Creative magic users, the Lords could write and activate runes. Scholars predict they rarely took the field, but when they did, it 'twas a sight to behold. Unable to be stopped by removing there runes from them, they must of torn through ranks of lesser mages and priests alike before the advent of effective countermeasures.





What no one knows is that Runic magic is a Talent, and it still exists today. Usually, one who has the Talent Rune Scribe, Knight, or Lord lacks the ability to cast one or more spell classes. Those that don't are usually instead extremely weak to at least one magic type.
