Mat Ball and Paper of Doom
So this is my first blog of things that randomly happened to me at school this week.

What I want to know, is why the make paper so pointy? I mean really, rounded edges wouldn't make much of a difference right? So the other day while I was sitting in AP World History with my friend, I nearly lost an eye. Tragic, I know. And it wasn't even a like good thing to have your eye taken out on. I mean, a pencil or something, that's kinda creepy, but flying papers? And of all the places in the room it could have ended up, it nearly goes into my EYE?!

So here's what happened. We [as in my friend and I] were passing notes. Yes, I know, we're great students. AP world is like our favorite class though, so give us a break. Now, the sheet of paper we were writing on wasn't even folded or anything, and I had like tossed it onto her desk, so she threw it back at me, and it FLEW UP and HIT MY EYELID. I closed my eye when I saw it coming. I was thinking 'Now, this doesn't look good, does it?' and the next thing I know, the paper hits me in the face. It was half funny, but it was like, why is the world so dangerous these days?

Which brings me to my next part.

Mat Ball.

If you don't know what this is, it's like kickball, and the bases are mats. That is basically the concept of mat ball. So, I really enjoy running and for whatever reason I find mat ball one of the greatest things EVER. So my friend and I [different friend than the AP World eye incident] are like going to run together on the bases. It's so much fun. Anyway, there are a number of dangers about Mat Ball that you won't understand until you play.

1) The mats are not in any way connected to the floor. They slide if you jump into them after running full speed from the other side of the gym. They slide if you push off hard enough when you're running to the next base [which happens so often]. And, these bases can have more than one person on at a time. The rule is, you just have to have both feet on the mat. We had like eight or more on one mat once. It was crazy.

2) People throwing the soccer ball. It's rather dangerous to be running, and one of the ways you get out is you get hit by the ball.

3) Standing in the outfield, you are very likely to get hit by the ball after it's been kicked.

So, back to what actually happened. My friend and I were running together, and the guy throws the ball, and it hits her in the head! I mean how horrible is that? Nice dude, real nice.

Then, there was this one time, I was running, and I nearly fell over as the mat slid halfway to the wall from it's position on the gym floor. They should invest in like Velcro or something.

Then there was the whole sexism of the whole game. I mean, the girls were kicking butt at kicking, and the guys even admitted it, which made me unbelievably happy, and generally more girl kickers got on without getting out than guys, but the coaches went easier on us, and the pitcher rolled the ball WAY slower. It sorta bugged me. I don't know the world is such a stupidly biased place. I mean we can handle ourselves guys, thanks.

I really like the game though, so whatever.

That's about it. Sorry I probably killed people with my long ranting. Thanks for at least attempting to read. xD

LOL
Even when -you're- the one kicking the ball, it can -still- hit you in the head.
