Warm and cool colors are colors that have either a very bright flashy complexion or a faded darkish complexion. Warm colors are the more vibrant colors. Red, yellow, and orange are included in this category. Cool colors are the less vibrant colors, such as blue green and violet.
Tints are light values that are made by mixing a color with white. For example, pink is a tint of red, and light green is a tint of green.
Shades are dark values that are made by mixing a color with black. For example Maroon is a shade of red, and navy is a shade of blue.
Value Contrast is the way colors appear when in the distance. The farther away something is, the less vibrant it's colors.
Emphasis is how colors are affected by the colors around them. A color can seem more or less vibrant depending on the vibrancy of a color it is close to or surrounded by.
