“Lily, wake up. Lily!” Gimpi bounced on the pile of white, which had tossed and turned, and at one point, slept walked from their cabin to the middle of Barton. As for the pile of white herself, a girl had climbed out of them, using her wings to separate the sleeves and complicated pockets and refit herself into the world. The little ball of gray sighed in relief.
“Get up, lazy. Do I have to grow up for you?” He pouted. She got up immediately, scooping him up and dashing off to the nearest tree to fix her appearance. Gimpi immediately helped her untangle her hair while she went through it with a comb that was caught on the end of her sword. Reasoning abilities began to return as he complained and complained about how she shouldn’t be so careless and to stop holding on to random things.
“You have got to stop grabbing your sword. You nearly decked the furniture again.” He untangled the last couple knots.
“What happened last night?” He sighed and simply stated:
“If you don’t remember, I ain’t telling.” She frowned, but admitted defeat. It was probably something not worth noting if he wouldn’t say. She folded her wings back to make sort of white headdress and re-clipped the clefs. Smoothing out her dress, they went out to the nearest park. Gimpi kept talking, about some dream he had and Lily returned in kind. Eventually they had gotten lost in Barton.
“Oh. Well, that’s great.” Gimpi had noticed too. They sighed. Today isn’t their day. Lily opened her sleeve and let Gimpi back in, to pass the time and plan the way back home.
“Well, there’s a cliff over there. I’m sure someone will be there eventually. There are usually people who will do interesting things on the cliff. The other option is the bar, where we follow the nearest drunkard back.” Lily pointed respectively.
They figured, well, weather be gentle, and the sun be bright. Maybe something interesting will happen yet.
“I’m sure something will happen. But, the cliff… I’ve heard of odd wishes happening there.” Odd wishes. That phrase alone is odd. Gimpi swished his lengthy monkeyish tail, flicking Lily in the eyes.
“Ow.” She grinned. “You’re awful.” Either way, they ended up going towards the cliff. Gimpi was the only one she could really talk too anymore, anyway. She didn’t mind that he was different or anything. Or the fact that he belonged to her sister, with that, she was pleased. The kid would grow up well beyond her in a shorter time, probably.
“Hey, Gimp. Are you ever gonna just pick up and leave?”
“…” He was thoughtful... also wondering. “Probably not. I’ll warn you like I always do. I’ll just tell you that I’m going a little longer.” That’s usually his answer.
Casually, it was returned, “You’re still growing, kid… I can’t wait until that girl pops. Savor childhood, y’know?” They both laughed, an old joke between them. Not like anything is going to happen quite yet.
