Ravings of a semi-sane Gaian
Vampire Hunter D RP
The full moon shone down on top of a lone traveler on top of a cyborg horse. The brim of his wide traveler's hat hid his face from view as he silently pressed on. The howl of werewolves in the distance what the only sound that broke the still night air.
Nia crouched at the bottom of a tree, looking around. Having done most of her training in the dark, her bright green eyes were well adjusted to the lack of light and she could see very well compared to most people. "Come out..." she said quietly, eyes darting around. One long fingered hand wrapped around the handle of her sword and she tensed her legs like a pair of flesh springs.
The traveler in black rode past the girl without so much as a glance seemingly unconcerned with her presence or how close he was coming to the werewolves. It was as if the concerns of the world were of no consequence to him.
She glanced at him and squinted. What in the world does he think he's doing? Sheathing her sword, she stood. "What do you think you are doing? The way you're heading, you'll be in the thick of a werewolf pack in ten minutes...and it's mating season. They won't take kindly to a stranger on their territory."
He stopped his horse for a moment and turned to face the girl. The light revealed his face for the first time as his vermilion eyes sized up the girl. He faced forward again and continued on his way undisturbed the the information he was given.
Nia crossed her arms as the man looked her over. When he continued down the path, she dropped her arms. "Didn't you hear me?" Receiving an answer when he didn't stop or look at her, she sighed, and ran forward. Skidding to a stop in front of his cyborg horse, she glared up at him. "Hey! Do you have any idea how much danger you're putting yourself in going alone?!"
||I have to go for the night. See you||
"Less than you." His reply was short and to the point although the woman didn't know that it was a near miracle that he had even bothered to reply to her at all. He steered his horse around her then paused. The howling had increased in volume, the girls voice had alerted some of them. He drew his long sword from the sheath on his back as he climbed down from his horse.

{Okay. Just post whenever you are on next. I don't get home until late tomorrow, but I may have some time before I go to reply.}
She spun 180 on her heels to face the source of the howling. Her fingers wrapped around the end of her sword again, knuckles white from how tightly she gripped it. "Put the toy sword away." she said between clenched teeth and drew her own sword that was very similar to a katana.
About ten wolves charged into view and D was on them before there was any time for a normal human to so much as blink. A few quick flashes of silver later and their numbers were halved, the only ones surviving were the ones that had managed to run past him by some miracle.
The couple wolves that managed to get past D charged straight at Nia. Her sword already drawn, she was already prepared to face them. In a couple of arcs of light, her sword slashed around her too quick for most human eyes to sees and one of the werewolves toppled to the ground, both of its forepaws severed from its body. Another jumped at her and she ducked down in a matrix-like fashion, bowing backwards with just enough force to manage to get her sword up at the wolf as it flew over her and deal another blow. Within a minute, the remaining were down and she stood, facing D, blood splattered across her skin and clothing.
D casually flicked the blood off his sword before sheathing it. His clothes were untouched from the battle, not even so much as a spec of dust had fallen on him. He walked over to his horse and mounted up. The threat had been dealt with and he didn't see the point in hanging around for the rest of the pack and whatever other beasts that came drawn to the scent of blood.
"...You are an odd man." she called to him, voice cracking slightly with strain as she did then centered herself again. "How do you keep your head so well...and still fight?" Wiping her blade off on her pants, she looked down then at D again as she sheathed her blade.
"... It comes with experience." Once again another miracle. It could be safe to assume that not even D himself knew why he was bothering to answer.
"How much experience?" She walked up next to the cyborg horse and cast her emerald eyes at the rider. "I've been doign this for...most of my life...Thought that would be enough."
"I have as well." D's vermilion eyes met hers for a brief instant then he turned his gaze at the moon. The direct light fully illuminated his face for the first time, his face too beautiful for him to be human.
Nia found her eyes locked on D's face, staring. She found the rest of her body immobile but didn't know if she was distracted or just tired.
D set his horse at a walk lowering his face so that his hat once again concealed his appearance. "There are creatures attracted to the scent of blood here. You'd do well to leave now."
She squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head quickly to clear it. "Leave?...I don't know where you suppose I will go. I don't exactly have a home...The forest...is my home."
"Relocating would be a good idea." D didn't really seem to care one way or the other but most people out on the frontier didn't to begin with, but he didn't seem like he would really care if he were followed either. In fact anyone that knew anything about the hunter would say that the fact that he was bothering to respond was an invitation.
"Excuse me..." she said, snapping slightly. "That's not exactly a choice." She paused and watched the horse furthering its distance. A moment later, she found her legs pushing her loser to it and walked next to the horse.
"There is always a choice for those who seek it." He fell silent again and kept his eyes focused on the invisible path though the forest. He didn't say anything of his destination or offer any further explanations on why he was traveling at night alone.
Nia decided to not to ask for any further information but instead just followed him. Her belt buckled clicked quietly against the sheath of her sword tied around her waist as she walked. On her better judgement, she remained silent as well, not wanting to force more out of the hunter.
D stopped abruptly at a stream and dismounted letting his horse drink. "You should clean up if you are to follow me into the village. If you show up like that it will be troublesome to me."
She nodded and crouched next to the stream, scooping up water in her hand. She washed the blood of of her arms then clothes then finally her face, staying silent as she did and didn't look at D.
D pulled a cup out of a saddle bag and filled it with water then dropped a single tablet from a bottle from the same bag into it. It didn't take long for the water to start smelling strongly of blood.

{Not sure if you remember... I think it was the third of fourth book that mentioned blood capsules.}
||I've only ever read up to book 2 ^_^;||
Nia recognized the smell, having come across many times while being raised by a vampire. She tried to ignore it and stood up, letting the wind dry her. She clamored up into a tree with ease and looked around.
{I've read all of them and own the first two manga}

D drained the cup quickly, rinsed it, and put it away. After a quick check on his horse he got back on and started on his way again unconcerned about Nia.
Her eyes shot to the ground as she noticed the movement then hopped out of the tree, landing in a crouch below. She ran a moment to catch up then followed a couple feet behind, keeping up.
