Part 3
“Why does the O.O.S. want to capture Lord Thornblade anyway?” Millie asked Ryan as they both mounted their horses and set off on their long journey.
“We’ve been keeping tabs on him for years.” Ryan replied. “He has done many bad deeds. Last time we heard of him, he was trying to kill you! You know, he hasn’t always been evil...”
“Oh?” Millie studied Ryan. He was really quite handsome, with his shaggy brown hair and deep blue eyes, but Millie shook off the thought. She was here on a mission!
He became bitter when a couple of bandits kidnapped his daughter, Natalie. She meant a lot to him, and he became evil ever since. He never got over it.” Ryan answered, keeping an eye on the road. He felt Millie’s stare and turned to look at her quizzically. Millie blushed and looked away. The two then rode silently into the night.
Back at Millie’s house, Andrew was snoring away peacefully, while Charles was up, wondering if he should warn his uncle about Millie’s mission. He decided that, the next day, he would somehow convince Andrew to follow his sister, so he could keep an eye on her.
Around midnight, Millie yawned. She was so tired! She and Ryan decided to stay at an inn for the night. She opened the door to her room and happily fell onto the puffy, inviting white bed.
Sunlight streamed through the bedroom window. Andrew opened his eyes to find Charles leaning over his bed. “Wake up, sleepyhead.” Charles said playfully. “We have a long day ahead of us!”
Andrew bolted upright. “Where are we going?!” He questioned.
“To follow your sister. You’re not going to let them go on an adventure without you, are you?” Charles asked. “Noo...Let’s go, then.” Andrew replied. “Eat up then.” Charles said, shoving a bowl of cereal into Andrew’s face.
Millie and Ryan rode throughout the day, Millie on a chestnut mare, and Ryan on a white steed. “How are we going to capture Lord Thornblade? He lives in a humongous castle, with dozens...no, hundreds of guards protecting him!” Millie wondered aloud.
“Hmm...We’ll have to find a way to sneak into the castle. Maybe a broken air shaft or secret tunnel or something. Meanwhile, come on. We’re almost there!” Ryan said. The two raced towards their destination.
“How are we going to catch up to them?” Andrew asked. “They already traveled a day ahead of us.”
“Oh, that’s easy.” Charles scoffed. “We could go by motorboat. My uncle gave one to me for my birthday!”
“Let’s go then!” Andrew answered. “What are you waiting for?”
“What?!” Lord Thornblade stood up from his throne a stomped his black, shiny boot. “They did WHAT now?!” Anger spread across his face, and he looked like he was about to blow. “Millie went on this mission with a member of the O.O.S.!” Charles blurted out. “And you LET them?!” Lord Thornblade bellowed. “I tried to stop them...Well, uncle, I got here first, didn’t I? And I brought Millie’s brother!” Charles pointed out. “Oh!” Lord Thornblade said, noticing Andrew for the first time. “Take that fellow to the dungeon!” He ordered. “...And kill him!” Andrew whimpered. “Millie is not going to let this happen!” He cried out, and turned to Charles. “You! I thought you were my friend! But you betrayed me!!!” Charles shrugged. “We all do what we do best.” He said simply, snapping his fingers for the guards. Lilia the maid watched helplessly as her friend Andrew was dragged through the double doors, and vowed to help Millie rescue him. “Um...Ryan?” Millie said as they made their way up the rocky mountain. “Yes?” “Who are they?” Millie pointed at the men in armor headed their way. Ryan gulped. “GUARDS! Run!!!” They both ran towards the direction of the castle. Lilia slipped out of the castle while Lord Thornblade was snoozing during his afternoon nap. “I better go help them!” She whispered to herself. She whistled. “Yoo-hoo! Guards! Over here!” As soon as she got their attention, she took a running start and jumped off the cliff.
