People's reaction to stress
~ 3 stages...
1. "Fight or flight"
2. Resistance / adjusting
3. Energy depletion / "giving up"
~ psychological / emotional reactions i.e. fear, anger, depression, etc..
Physical consequences of being stressed
~ immune system lowers (easily sick)
~ higher blood pressure (easier for heart disease)
~ increase in cholesterol (o.o easier to get fat?)
~ decrease in protein synthesis (soo... sorta why cream can't drink milk now?)
Psychological consequences of being stressed
~ automatic avoidance
~ "burnout" - more easily tired
It's been rumoured that stress can cause cancer too... though there's no scientific evidence of such a thing...
To learn that on the day of my psych exam is a very sad thing..... u.u"
