Short Story for Creative Writing Class
Tick.Tick.Tick.Tick. A weary groan escaped my lips as I rolled over and desperately tried to let sleep take hold of me. My body was tired and craving the haven of sleep, but my mind would not allow it. Ever since I met my new History teacher today, my mind has been racing a thousand miles a minute. There was something queer about him. His face was angelic and his voice was as smooth as velvet. I racked my brain for some reason why this bothered me.
I let a small sigh escape my lips before I sat up and finally decided to see how long I have been desperately trying to fall asleep. The bright digital letters of the clock read, "1:20". I groaned again as I fell back down onto my pillow with a soft thud. It seemed to mock me and my disire to sleep, and just for kicks, it added another minute to the already late time.
Allasandro Perseverdes was not normal. It was as if he was almost perfect. I stopped and opened my eyes. That was it. He was perfect! I threw the covers over my head and happy with my conclusion finally let my mind rest.

The next day, I eagerly awaited history class. I practicly ran to class to be sure I could start finding out more information. He was sitting at his desk by the time I arrived. He seemed normal, he was reading a book with his legs propped up on his desk. I glanced at the book and couldn't even understand the title.
"What book is that?" I asked sweetly. I was blessed with good looks. Dirty blonde hair and mesmerizing brown eyes were what got every guy to give me the attention that I was craving.
He looked up at me slowly and smirked before letting his thick italian accent stick heavily with every word.
"It's Italian." he replied simply.
He looked back to his book and continued to ignore me as if I had never asked the question. That frustrated me. I walked up to his desk and sat down being sure to budge his feet and make him notice me whether he wanted to or not. Again, his gaze shifted from his book to me and my heart just aboout leapt to my throat. His eyes were such a rich and gorgeous brown.
"Yes?"
"Well, you obviously are from Italy, whatcha doin here in the US?" I asked.
He sighed and placed his book down before raising an amused eyebrow. "Miss Alexandra, I believe that is none of your business."
I frowned at the use of my real name and the obvious dismissal of my question but was sure to hold back the glare that was threatening to spill from my brown eyes.
"Just curious." I shrugged, being sure to remain cute and innocent.
His eyes seemed to just pierce into my soul. I blushed before looking away and realizing that some of the class was starting to slowly file into the classroom. I saw the boys I sit next to. He was sort of a timid guy, and his twin brother was a complete a** hole but I knew them both and we talked.
"Hey Demitri, hey Adrian." I muttered as I sat in between the two brothers. They both looked at me realizing that something was deffinitely was on my mind.
"You okay?" Demitri asked. He was without a doubt, the nicer one out of the two.
"I guess...I just have alot on my mind."
"What the hell could be so important that it's effecting your mood?" Adrian sighed.
As soon as I was about to retort, Allasnadro, Mr. Perseverdes rather, asked the class to stop talking. Being the model student I was, I stopped talking and opened my text book to where we left off. Class seemed to drone on for hours before the bell finally rang signaling our release.
"Alexandra." Allasandro called before I had the chance to leave.
Adrian snickered when he heard my whole name being used, knowing full well how much I hated it. He and his brother grabbed their stuff quickly and left me there to face him by myself. "Jerks." I mumbled under my breath. "Is there something you needed?" I asked Allasandro as I walked to his desk.
He was writing something down on a piece of paper and once he was finished with the sentence he was working on, he finally looked up at me. Again, his eyes seemed to look right through me.
"There seems to be something on your mind." he commented as he gestured for me to sit down. I slowly lowered myself into the chair he had referred to being sure not to look away.
"No, not really." I lied easily,
"Lies."
I was stunned. Not that it was a good thing, but I was quite good at getting away with my lies. I was sure to keep my calm, however, and smiled a sweet innocent smile. "What do you mean?" I asked..
"I am not a fool young one." He started. "You are invovling yourself with things that are too big for you to comprehend."
I narrowed my eyes. What could he be talking about? I haven't mentioned anyone to anything about how I suspected something to be up with him. The only explanation was that he could read minds.
"Sir, I have no idea what you are talking about."
He gave a smirk. "You are correct, I can read your mind."
My heart stopped there is no possible way.
"Actually, there is."
"Seriously, you can stop doing that now." I muttered getting the picture. His gaze never shifted from mine, and that is what made me nervous. He never even blinked it seemed like. "Creepy vampire." I mumbled under my breath.
He raised a some what shocked eyebrow and recline back in his chair.
"That did not take as long as I thought."
I looked at him as my jaw dropped. What? Vampire? Him? I couldn't believe it. He couldn't be a vampire! They don't even exist. I stood up suddenly and grabbed my bag there is no way I am hanging around this guy any longer. As soon as I rushed to the door, he was already standing there with the door shut. I looked back to his chair where he was moments before and turned back to the door.
"How -"
"Vampire." he said simply. "You take this as a shock. You slowly started working out the probability in your mind and have finally come to a conclusion. So why are you so suprised?"
I was unable to speak while my legs decided to remain frozen to the spot I stood. He did not come closer to me and he did not speak until my breathing decided to slow down a bit. I took a deep breath and calmed down a little bit. Vampire. Okay.
"There is more I need to talk to you about." he said as he strolled back to his seat. "It's a very serious matter."
I couldn't help but be slightly interested in what was so serious. I turned back to him and with shaky legs made my way back to the chair I occupied before. This time when I sat down I noticed just how vampiric Allasandro did look. His skin was pale and without any blemishes and his hair seemed to hold perfect black curls.
"It invovles alot of history of your ancestry." he admitted as he pulled out a yellow worn book. It looked so old and dusty that it seemed to have survived centuries of abuse. He opened it carefully with a delicate hand revealing a sketched picture of an angel among men.
"Who is that?" I asked.
He gave a knowing smile as he flipped the book around the reveal the name of the angel to Alex.
"Micheal...Bartulla!" she exclaimed hearing her last name. "THE angel Micheal!?" she questioned fervently.
He gave a nod before reading from the book itself. It went into a long explanation of how Micheal had gone to earth in a desperate attempt to save those who were trapped in darkness. Those referring to vampires. As time passed, his body would decay with the earth and he would be reincarnated as a new being coming from a mortal woman. And as the lineage went on through the familes, Alexandra was the last one to be reincarnated.
I could not and would not believe it. Me?! And angel!? I stood up and just as I did, Allasandro followed suit afraid I may try to leave.
"Why me?!" I almost yelled. This didn't make any sense.
"I know it is alot to take in, but you have to understand that you are the only one who can save me from this hell!"
I looked at him in disbelief. Here is someone who has immorality and he is willing to give it away to become mortal. I shook my head at the fact that someone would do that and that I was even capable of doing such things. I quickly ran out the door catching Allasandro off guard with the spontaneous thought. That was it. Think spontaneous.
By the time I had reached outside it was already dark. I ran as hard and fast as I could to escape this awful fate. The full moon gave the night an eerie feel as I ran desperately to my car. I reached in my pocket for my keys and just as I was about to reach for the handle, someone stepped in front of me. I screamed and stumbled back earning myself to fall down. I looked up frantically to see a dark haired man looking down at me.
"Ello dearie." he chimed.
I didn't know what the man wanted but I knew it could not be good. I desperately tried to scoot away only to hit somebody else. It was Allasandro. He quickly stepped in front of me and the man obviously was not pleased.
"Now what's this abou'?" the man asked through a frown. "You can share 'er now can't ya?"
I looked from the man to Allasandro trying to figure out what is going on.
"Leave her alone Tom." he threatened.
The man named Tom gave a maniacle laugh showing his fangs in the moon light. I shivered knowing full well what they were used for. At that point, I fully believe Allasandro.
"Now, now, I jus' want a little bit o' her pretty little blood." he smirked taking a step closer.
Allasandro continued to stand in front of me, blocking me from the man who was trying to hurt me. As much as I wanted to run away, I was frozen in place, too scared to move.
"I'll 'ave 'er blood!" he screamed as he lunged at me.
I screamed and covered my arms over my face to try and defend myself. But as I was expecting a blow to my face, nothing happened. A nasty gurgling sound filled the air and I saw that Tom's throat had been slit. He fell to the ground, his blood littereing the cold asphalt of the parking lot. Allasandro just looked down at the dying being with a frown.
"Are you okay?" he asked as he turned toward me.
I gave a slight nod before my vision went blurry and I passed out.

I woke up the next day with a pounding head ache and an IV stuck to my arm. I groaned as my vision slowly started coming back to me, revealing worried parents and a worried Allasandro. As soon as my eyes opened I was trapped in my mothers hug and tears as my father grabbed my hand. I was smothered with love at that point.
After I had started settling down, they went and got something to eat, leaving me with my history teacher.
"How are you feeling?" he asked as he sat next to me.
"Like I was about to be attacked by a vampire." I remarked smartly.
I could see a playful smirk tug at his lips.
"Well, I have decided something." he started. I could tell he wanted to continue to speak, so I did not interrupt. "You are a very special person. And not just because of what you are able to do, but to me." He stopped and paused for a moment trying to think of how to phrase what he wanted to say. "And if I were to become a mortal I would not be able to protect you and your gift, so I won't be needing your gift."
I looked at him in a way to where I could see through him. He was innoncent with what he said and he had all good intentions behind his words. I smiled and relaxed knowing that they rest of the school year was going to be a long one.
