Shrouded in black, the mysterious bird creeps to the edge of the sky. It peeps down at the world beneath its feet, shivering a little. A flutter of wings reveals a glowing orange light as it plummets to the ground below, announcing the arrival of dawn. I sit by and drink a cup of black coffee.
Karate...
Sometimes I think Karate is one of the sole things that allows me to keep my sanity...
Karate is magical, really. For me at least. It's like a diary. You let everything out. The stress, the news, the frustration, everything. It just vanishes into thin air, never to be seen again. I always feel refreshed afterwards.
One of the students was doing a kata, so I began to wander a bit. There's these bleachers for the chorus in the corner (The place we do it at is a theatre) and they're covered in glitter from one performance or another. I got onto one of them, walking across. I noticed how you can only see the glitter when the light shines on it. When my shadow falls over it, you can no longer see it sparkling. As you walk, different bits of glitter are reflected in the light, sparkling blue. I think people are like that too. When we get into the light, we have the chance to shine. We can't let anything overshadow our moment, we just have to live it. That's what I think.
Anyway, I always get emotional with Karate. For second class, my dad made me hold my new Sai for all of the class. It was kind of uncomfortable. Well, I was sitting there doing an empty-hand kata with these Sai, when I just started crying. Just randomly. I think it has to do with the thing I talked about earlier. The stress is going away. With stress sometimes come tears, and that's what happened. I excused myself for the rest of the class and went out to watch a show that's about to open.
When we got home, I made myself some dinner and sat down. Instead, I started reading an old playbill from a past show. After a few minutes, my dad came over and sat down beside me. He was like "Are you ready?" and I was like "Depends..."
See, he bought the G-1 or whatever the hell it's called recently. It's a Google phone. So I was like "Ummm..." And suddenly, music starts to play from the phone. A smile stretches wide across my face, the first one since I got home.
Ladies and gentlemen, my father rickroll'd me.
It's just the thing he would do. Of COURSE a Google phone would be made for the interwebz, but I didn't think about it xDD He told me he knew it'd cheer me up. That's my dad.
Then, after the song finished, he went and showed me the Darth Vader Chocolate Rain. I hadn't heard that version before. It was pretty awesome.
... I ended up throwing away my dinner.

I get to learn Ginkaku Sai next week!
