May's Updates
Entry 1: New Starts
She smiled as she walked down the dirt littered cobble road, her small brown shoes clicking in time with other pedestrians. She looked around at the quaint, elegant buildings and the huge clock tower in the distance, her long black braid flailing behind her.

so this is Durem... She thought as she curiously looked all around, at everything! The people on the streets, the shops, the animals, the small apartments! It all seemed so lively, so elegant, so lovely and the right fit for her. She finally reached her destination, A small building that she would soon call her own.

It was a quite modest building, brown with a red tin roof. It was 2 stories, one that would be for her shop, another that would be used as her personal apartment. There used to be another shop at one point, a pet store, but for reasons she was never told, the owner had to leave in a rush, which left her with the benefit of cheap rent, only 20,000 gold a month for both floors. She didn't ask questions about why the owner was rushed off, she didn't question the alarm on the former owner's face which normally would tip any other more logical person off to danger. Nothing appeared to phase May, and nothing would stop her from achieving her goals.

The shop, she noticed, was located right across from another clothing shop and had a rather distinguished looking gentleman smoking a cigarette right outside the door. He had sandy hair and a short white beard and a scar on his face in the shape of an "X". She could tell by his face he had a million secrets and stories inscribed in his mind, but hardly shared them. She smiled politely at her new neighbor, who hardly seemed interested at the kind gesture she showed. He nodded in reply, threw the burning stick of tobacco on the ground, pressed on it with the tip of his shoe and entered his shop without a word to her.

She took one more look at the exterior of her new home. In her mind, she took inventory of things she would need to do, things that she liked about the outside, things she didn't like, things she would need to buy and once again, looked around her to get her bearings. The windows would definitely need to be cleaned and she would need to come up with a nice window display for her new shop that wasn't littered with hay and bedding that once belonged to the pets in the pet shop. She wanted a nice box garden to liven up the place, and had remembered on her way to Durem seeing a flower shop just in the next town. She had a lot of work to do, but it would all be worth it in the end for her, she was determined to believe that.

She reached into her beige and brown canvas bag and took out a golden key and unlocked the front door and breathed a sigh, which was a mix of frustration at her new neighbors coldness and content at the fact she finally got to her home and could retire to a real bed for the night.

A new home, a new start, a new life

and this time, things would finally go right.

She unlocked the heavy wooden door and pushed it open. Right away, something felt amiss. There was a small scratching sound that belonged to a creature that definitely did not come with the house.
