A judge ruled that a 13-year-old girl's constitutional rights were not violated when the South Side Area School District suspended her for having oral sex on a school bus.
The girl's mother made the claim, which was dismissed by Beaver County Judge George James. The woman also said that the school district did not make clear in its written policies that oral sex on a bus was unacceptable behavior.
South Side Middle School suspended the girl and a 13-year-old boy in May after classmates reported them to a teacher. Principal Thomas Ralston said the students admitted having consensual oral sex on a bus during a field trip.
Both suspensions last until Oct. 29. In the meantime, the teens can attend South Side Area's alternative-education program.
