Last night I was playing Silent Hill 2 on my PS2. I guess you’ve probably heard of it? It’s the game with Pyramid Head and lots of fog. Oh, and you get a radio that crackles when monsters are nearby.
It’s the first time I’ve played the game and everything was freaking me out a bit. Especially those corpse things that scuttle around the floor. But I wasn’t to shaken up. Well, not until my radio lost its signal. My real radio. I’d had it on so the noises from the game wouldn’t scare me too much.
I just froze for a few seconds, trying to figure out what the hell was going on. After a minute or so I got up and started to sort the radio out- the aerial seemed to have been moved. While I was fixing that I heard a scuffling noise from under the bed.
Okay, I admit it. I properly freaked out then. Couldn’t get the image of that armless corpse monster thing wriggling about under there… and if that existed what else? I couldn’t move for about a minute, I was to scared to even scream.
Eventually the noise stopped and I’d gathered up the courage to find out what was going on. I’d armed myself with a pair of scissors- there was nothing else weapon like in the room and I wasn’t going to leave until I’d found out what was under there. I slowly lifted up the mattress, still trembling a lot. And there it was- tucked up in the corner near a pile of old magazines and books. Bradley, one of my pet cats. The damn thing just opened it’s eyes and gave me a “You Idiot” look before going back to sleep.
*sigh* I guess he had knocked the aerial before climbing under there…
From now on I’m only going to play Silent Hill 2 in the daytime, without my radio on. And with no cat’s about.
