Van quickly rushed down the sidewalk, trying to get as far away as he could. The atmosphere he felt in that house…it was something that he never should have felt, Especially from him. Van continued his speedy walking until his house was in sight, that’s when he finally slowed to a calm walk.
He walked up the driveway to his house and inserted the key, turning it slowly as to not scare his mother. Little did he know, his mother already knew he was there. Suddenly the door flung open and there stood his mother, a tall slender silver wolf. She quickly wrapped her arms tightly around him.
“Oh Van! I was so worried! I thought someone had kidnapped you! I thought I’d never see you again!”
Van laughed at his mother’s wild imagination.
“I’m fine mom, I was just at uh..” He didn’t know if he should say friend but he had no other word. “a friend’s house.” He smiled sheepishly as he spoke.
“Oh? And would this friend happen to be a boy?” His mother chuckled at her son’s blushing face.
“M-mom! H-he’s just s friend!” He blushed more as he spoke the word friend. He knew ,that to him at least, they weren’t friends…but he didn’t know what he was to Jack.
“Oh fine, I’ll leave it alone. For now at least.” She turned and headed into the kitchen and Van followed her into the kitchen, still blushing red. She handed him a warm plate wrapped in foil.
“I know you didn’t eat lunch, so I made a dinner early. It’s your favorite, bar-b-que chicken and sweet potato.”
Van nervously took his plate. He was still dwelling over that look Jack had in his eyes. It scared him…yet at the same time it drew him in. It was like a rose…so beautiful that you want it, but so dangerous you know to stay away.
“Th-thanks mom” He said nervously as he faked a smile. “I think I’ll eat upstairs though. I need to uh, finish my work for class”
“Oh alright dear.” She kisses him on his head and sent him on his way. “Good night”
“Night mom.” Van called back to her as he hurried up the stairs.
When he reached his room he quietly closed the door and stat his plate on his desk. He felt so confused. He didn’t understand what that look meant. It was some thing primitive…beast-like. It was something one should never see. And even though all these thoughts roamed wildly through his head, one stood out among the rest.
“He wants me…” Van whispered. “That’s what that look was. Nothing more than lust and desire…”
It was true that Van planned on finishing his work tonight so he wouldn’t have to do it in class tomorrow. But at his point, his mind was so stressed and worn out he couldn’t even muster the strength to eat a morsel of his dinner. Nor did he shower or anything, he simply threw his clothes in the hamper and crawled into bed, hoping tomorrow would be a better day.

The next morning, he awoke to a blaring alarm. It was screaming to him that it was 7:00 and time to wake up. But truthfully , he didn’t want to go today. He was still so tired even though he slept all night. But nevertheless, he drew his weary body from the blankets and headed for the shower. As he dropped his underwear and stepped into the warm water the thoughts of the previous afternoon drifted back into his mind. Namely, that lust-filled look that was in Jack’s eyes. He wanted to ask him about it, but truth be told, he was afraid to. Not because he though Jack would hurt him, but because he didn’t want to hear the answer. A deep sigh left his lips as he slowly turned off the water and stepped out onto the tiled floor of the bathroom. He looked in the mirror and spoke softly to himself.
“I’ll either do it or not. I can’t let this wear me down…”
With that he exited the bathroom and procured his clothing for the day and headed to school.
When he arrived at school, it happened to be at the same time Jack had and, since he didn’t come to detention, Mrs. Janice was chewing him out.
“Mr. Niison! I understand that you may have later apologized to Mr. Weiss but that doesn’t mean you are excused from detention!” She reached behind her desk and pulled out another sheet, white this time. Van could see the words “write-up” through the thin paper. He knew it wasn’t his fault Jack missed his detention, but he felt compelled to bail him out.
“M-Mrs. Janice? Um…Jack missed detention yesterday because he had…um…helped me out with something. I know it’s vague, but I’d rather not go into details…” He glanced at Jack who stared back at him. His face wasn’t that of anger, but almost of shock and surprise.
“Well Jack…I suppose I could let you off this once. But I assure you it won’t happen again.” she turned and walked away, throwing the writ up sheet in the trash and sat behind her desk.
Van felt nervous because he had taken up for Jack. As well as for that fact that he and Jack were still at the front of the room. Van rushed to his usual seat at the back and laid his head down as he waited for class to start. But to his surprise the usually empty chair beside him had a new occupant, Jack. Van felt that nervous chill all over again, he wasn’t sure if he was supposed to have told Mrs. Janice that he had “helped” him.
“Hey…thanks for bailing me out. You didn’t have to you know.”
“Well…I didn’t want you to be written up because of me..”
Jack chuckled at Van’s words “I wasn’t going anyway, I have better things to waste my time with.”
“Oh…” Was all Van replied with.
The bell had rang and class was starting. Mrs. Janice stood at the front of the class.
“Alright class, today, write poems to describe ourselves and we will the read them to the rest of the class.”
Van knew this dreaded day was coming. He got out his pen and paper and began writing.

Second period, his Trigonometry class, had gone by pretty fast. The teacher there Mr. Hannidal, wasn’t a very creative teacher. He simply gave about two or three worksheets and sat down for the rest of the class.
He was currently making his way to the lunch room, where he would look at the repulsive lunch room food and be instantly disgusted by it. Today however, he wouldn’t be going to lunch whiting some trouble.
“Well, well, well…If it isn’t the little fighter.”
Van turned around, coming face to face with the cat from yesterday afternoon. His arm was wrapped in gauze and the scratches on his face had some sort of cream on them.
“You...”
“Yeah, me. And my buddies too.”
From behind the scarred cat came a garden snake and a raven.
The raven chuckled mockingly “This li’tle piece o’ crap beat ya up this bad, mate?” He laughed. “I don’t know ‘ose the wimp ‘ere.”
Van folded back his ears, slowly backing away from the trio as the chuckled and laughed.
“Enough crap!” The cat spat as he turned back to Van, smiling. “Since it seemed you didn’t want to have fun with me…you can have some fun with these two.”
As he finished his sentence the snake and raven advanced on Van, who continued backing away. He turned to run the Raven was already behind him, smiling deviously. While Van attentions was on the grinning raven the snake came up from behind and pinned the Fox’s hands behind his back.
Von struggled violently, but the reptile’s grip was firm around his wrists and hands. The snake nodded to the raven that he had him pent down and the raven moved forward, slowly running his hand underneath Van’s shirt.
“Just relax and enjoy it…” The bird whispered in his ear.
Van struggles more as he felt the feathered hand slide back down his stomach towards his lower regions He closed his eyes and looked away, unable to bear the sight of the bird fondling him, but to his surprise, the feeling never came. Instead he heard a loud screech and a surprised hiss. He felt his body being thrown to the ground and he hit hard, injuring his arm. Admits the pain he managed to open his golden eyes, and the sight stunned him.
On top of the raven was Jack, Hissing and spitting as he swiped his claws, ripping out fistfuls of hard black feathers with every swipe. The white cat and garden snake had already fled, but the raven was determined to do what he planned to do. But Jack wasn’t having any of that, he continued tear feather from the avian, but he did not do his unscathed, he had cuts all over his body from where the razor claws of the raven tore through his skin. But somehow he manage to drive the bird off, it cursed them both under his breath before spreading his black wings and taking off. Jack was panting and bleeding everywhere. He turned as looked at Van who was still lying on the grass.
“You alright?” He asked, his words, still monotone, but this time had some emotion behind them.
“I-I don’t know. I think I dislocated my shoulder or something…”
Van slowly stood, but almost fell back down, the pain radiating form his arm was making him dizzy and disoriented. He knew it’d be better if he just sat down, rather than try to walk, and so he did. Using one hand he lowered himself back to the ground.
“Could you…go get someone…I don’t…think I can walk…” Van speech was broken and sluggish, as if he were on the verge of passing out.
“I can’t leave you out here.” Was all Jack said as he hoisted Van’s lithe body into his arms.
“Why….Why do you care so much about me…” Van’s speech was even more slurred as his eyelids grew even heavier. Although, he could have sworn that before he blacked out, Jack had whispered “Because I love you.”
