The Darkest Night

“Let’s go Kida!”
“I’m coming, I’m coming! Hey wait for me Lucy!”
“Well then hurry up already.”
Hi my names Kida. My friends and I are going out around the country looking for some adventure. Well looks like we’re going to get more then what we were looking for. It was my best friends lucy,cicellia,cassy,marcus and I who were always looking for some fun and causing mischief for any who was around us. While on our search we see a fair and decided to go so we did.
“wow.” Lucy kept saying with aw. It was kind of annoying.
“you can stop at any time now”
“oh, shut up marcus! I’ve never been to a fair before.”
We all looked at her with surprised looks on our faces.
“you’ve never been to a fair before?!?”
She nodded her head saying no.
“well, let’s stay in this town for a little while so lucy can see what the fairs like. If that’s ok with you guys.”
I always ask everyone else befor I make a decision. They all nodded their heads in agreement. We started walking again when suddenly we heard terrible scream.
“What on earth was that!” Marcus said as he jumped on a table to see what was going on.
“I don’t know let’s go check it out.”
We ran toward where the scream had come from. When we got there we discovered a gruesome scene. A woman was lying on the ground blood on her hands and head it was basically all over her. Marcus bent over her and check for a pulse. He turned around he was as white as a ghost.
“Is she…”
“Yah, she’s dead.” He said while turning back to the lifeless body.
As he did three people came over a man and two children.
“Oh my god… that’s my wife!” he said holding back tears
One of the children ran over trying to get to their mother but Marcus held her back.
“Let me go! I want my mommy!” the little girl said while hot tears were coming down her face.
Marcus looked at me. I shook my head trying to hold back tears for the little girl. By then Marcus had picked up the little girl and handed her back to her father.
“We will find out who did this. I give you my word.” His eyes were gleaming from holding back tears as he said it.
“Thank you.” The father said finally letting his tears flow. His children began to cry and when they did the father held his children in his arms and cried with them. Marcus just stared then started to walk away. He turned around and looked at me.
“Lucy, call the police.” He said still looking at me
“Kida.”
‘Yah?”
“Come with me. We’re going to ask around and see if anyone saw anything.”
We started asking with each person who said they saw nothing the more frustrated he got.
“Excuse me sir, may I have a moment of your time?” he said trying to keep his anger in
“No, I’m too busy for you youngsters.”
That blew Marcuse’s last fuse. He grabbed the guy by his shirt and started yelling and cursing at him.
“I bet you’re also too busy to notice a dead woman behind your tent old man!”
“Marcus please calm down we’ll keep asking around.”
“It’s not like it matters anymore these people don’t care. They just care about themselves and their pathetic lives.” He said with anger in his voice
I was terrified I didn’t know what to do.
“Marcus please …..Leave him alone.” I said tears streaming down my face
Marcus was looking at me this time. He let the man go when he did the old man ran inside his tent.
“Kida...” he said looking me just a few feet away from me.
“I’m sorry Marcus I know what you said about crying before left home. I’m sorry, can u…”
Before I could even finish my sentence Marcus pulled me towards him and held me in his arms.
“It’s ok kida.” He said petting my head.
I looked up at him he was crying and he was looking at me with kindness in his eyes.
“Marcus…”
“It’s ok kida. I’m sorry I scared you.” He said letting me go.
“Come on lets head back.” He said taking me by my hand
“Ok”
We started heading back. When we got back the police were there and they were putting the old man Marcus got angry with in hand cuffs. Lucy ran up to us.
“Hey guys, that old men just admitted to killing that woman.”
We both looked at each other with surprise. Then we smiled because we scared him into admitting what he did.
Marcus walked off to talk to the father. At the end of the day we all went to a hotel and checked in. Marcus slept in another room of course.
“Hey kida?”
“Yah Cecilia?”
“What happened between you and Marcus? He wouldn’t stop staring at you”
“Nothing happened.”
She looked at me with the ‘yah right ‘look on her face.
“I swear you guys are always bothering me about stupid things.”
“Well we’re not the ones who have a crush on Marcus.”
“Admit it kida you like Marcus.”
“I do not!” I said blushing
“Yes you do! Look your even blushing!” Lucy said with excitement
I sat down on the bed thinking to myself.
*I’m not in love with Marcus. Am I? Nah, that can’t be true. I need to clear my I’ll just take a walk.*
“I’m going to take a walk”
“And go see your boyfriend?” Casey said in a teasing voice.
