Chapter 33: Truth Be Told Pt. I
That evening, we were getting ready to go to the bath house. We all showered off, and then got into our swimsuits. Ashley bought a new one just for this occasion I used my swim trunks I’d had for the last year. Star had on a sleek and sexy one piece that I could barely keep my eyes off of.
She blushed, but didn’t say anything, “Let’s hurry! The others are probably waiting on us,” she said hurrying out the door. We followed her and headed down the elevator to the main lobby, out the front door, and we were then driven by a golf cart to the bath house.
By the time we got there, the others were waiting inside. Star was right again. “Hey guys!” Curstan greeted cheerily. She hugged us all and I noticed her trying to hide her bikini under a t-shirt. It was white, so it was easy to see that it was a blue and white flower print two-piece. Again, I kept my mouth shut on the matter. She called the others who greeted us in similar fashions. Well, except Mr. Sore Loser. Anyway, the girls and the boys divided once again into separate baths.
The large baths were modeled after the Japanese onsen of Earth, but Moracius had given it its own homey touch. There were native minerals in the water which soothed and smelled nice, as well as large rocks scattered throughout the steamy waters.
The boys sunk into the steaming waters with a comforting sigh. The healing minerals relieved all aches and pains, the heat numbing it as they healed. That’s when conversation began. “So,” Tyler spoke, “how’d you beat Kratias to the halfway mark, Dyron?”
Everyone seemed a bit surprised that he’d care. “Well, it’s a pretty interesting story!” I replied leaning back on a warm rock.
“Do tell!” he mocked with a motion of his hands.
“Ok so after we took a shortcut on the water and took out a Water Behemoth, we traveled a few days and got attacked by a pack of wolves!” I said.
“And?” Anthony urged.
“That’s when we came and saved them!” Nathan jumped in. He continued, “We traveled together for a day and came to a fork in the path.”
Tyler nodded, “Oh yes that fork! Melissa and I went left if I remember correctly.”
“So did Ashley and I,” I told him. “After traveling for a few weeks, we found Star. She was abandoned by her group who was taking a trip through there. No other remains were found! Not one sign of anybody else!” I explained. Besides knowing the truth, Anthony knew I was lying because of the smile on my face. But that was easily misconstrued as adding effect to a grim tale. "We found two horses a few days later, so we took them. Then we had that run-in with the Humanoids. They hit me with an arrow in the leg but my girls fixed it up. Took another week to get here first. The end."
“Well that was hardly interesting!” Tyler complained.
“I never said who it’d be interesting to!” I replied quick-wittedly. He sunk down a little in the water and rubbed his swollen cheek in silence.
“I heard Star call you “honey” before our bout! Care to elaborate?” Tyler said after a moment. The smile was now on his face.
I couldn’t help but tense up when I heard the melodious sound that was her name. “It’s just a girl thing, I don’t know,” I replied staring at my reflection in the water.
Everyone grinned and decided to side with and delve deeper into this subject. “She doesn’t call your partner that!” Tyler retorted.
“How the hell do you know?” I asked defensively.
“So she doesn’t?” Nathan suddenly asked. I’d fallen into their trap. I already knew what they wanted. What I had to say. You, dear reader, have already deduced this fact by now (hopefully), but it was time that the others know. “Yes! Yes…I’ve fallen for Star! I want her to be mine and mine alone!” I shouted. There was silence as the words echoed throughout the room. “That was better than I anticipated!” my cousin said.
“Oh shut up, you!” I grumbled submerging myself deeper into the water. Everyone laughed and thought that my embarrassment was hilarious. I thought to myself, “I wonder if she feels the same way?”
