The guard who held my arm walked up, quickly typing in keys for the password. The door split open horizontaly as the gaurds pushed the two of us into the dark room. The room was empty, with metal walls and floors like the rest of the base. It was larger than the closet we had previously been in by at least three times. I could just barely make out Knuckles in the darkness. I dropped onto my knees, feeling the cold metal floor through my gloved hands. My attention turned back to Knuckles who had his head pressed against the door like he had earlier in the closet.
"Knuckles," I began quietly. "what are you doing?" My voice was patheticly weak sounding. "We're getting the hell out of here." He replied back. His voice wasn't affected by what was going on. I personally envied it. I was sure he was feeling scared on the inside, but he wasn't letting it show. Another minute passed before the red echidna backed up from the door. He charged at it as a large explosion of noise erupted into the otherwise silent room. A small hole was where his fist hand came into contact with the metal. Knuckles growled and shook his hand a little before grabbing both sides and pulling on them until he and I could fit through the hole. I stood up uneasily, running the small distance as he climbed carefully through the opening.
"We've got to hurry, Raine. They probably heard that." Knuckles said, running down the hall and turning the opposite direction we had come from. I followed after him, a bad feeling settling into the pit of my stomach.
