Chapter 1
1st place
heat and sweat suffocated me. the only thing that was going around in my head was "go faster! faster!" my eyes closed and i pushed my self to go faster. i was ahead but i needed to break my time. i want to be the fastest. just a little more. im almost done. i dart through the finish line and slow to a stop. i put my hands on my knees and try to calm down.
"stop pushing yourself so hard." i looked up to see my best friend Emilee looking down on me holding a water bottle and a towel. she hands me the towel first. i wipe the sweat off my face. then i take the water bottle and gulp it down in seconds. my mouth was so dry.
"i cant help it. i need to break my time." i say to her panting. i look at the score board. i was in first place. i smile wide. that track seemed endless to me. and it was only a quarter mile. one lap. i run a mile every day. i walk up to the podium thing and retrieve my medal. everyone then comes over and congrats me. after that emilee drives me home. i stumble into my bedroom and pass out.
