The Journal Of Crow Bird
The life and undeath of Crow Bird.
The Old Fashioned Town
I entered the little town silently. My bones ached and I was alone. It was one of my most lonely days, and I have had many of those. The windows in the houses I passed were dark. As i walked, I decided to look down at my feet, in case someone walking by saw me. I didn't want to draw attention. Instead of viewing my feet, I saw the knife protruding from my abdomen. I hurried into an alley between an old store and a house. After several tries, I pulled out the knife. On my white shirt was remnants of my blood and a tear that revealed the gash in my stomach. I sat down, leaning against the wall. I pulled my robes around my body to cover the wound from sight.

The twilight soon faded into complete darkness. My whole body ached. The town remained silent and asleep as I faded into my thoughts. Then something large came and stopped by my alley. It took me a few seconds before I realized it was a muggle contraption called a car. Someone stepped out of the car. It was a woman. I looked at her face but my vision was still blurred, and I could only make out her basic shape.
She walked over to me and asked "Are you all right?"

I felt in my throat that I couldn't talk, so I nodded instead.

"Are you sure? Do you need a place to stay?"

I wanted to say "yes, I need a place to stay", but I couldn't, so I just stared helplessly at the woman.

"Can't you speak?", she asked with a concerned expression.

I shook my head.

She nodded and said"I think you should come with me."

She saw me struggle as I tried to stand, so she came over to help me. I was soon in the car and we were driving to to her home. It was a short ride and we were soon at her house. It was a small brick home with a smoking chimney.

"It looks like Kristel lit the fire place", she said with a smile."She is probably around your age. Your around seventeen, right?"she said, turning to me.

I nodded in reply. I was exactly seventeen.

We walked passed the white picket fence on the path that led up to the door. Right before we entered the door, she turned to me."You are a wizard, right?"

I nodded.

"I thought so, by your clothes. We can never be too careful in these dark times."she said with a grave look.

When we entered, there were many magical giveaways in her house, such as a self knitting blanket, and moving pictures. I walked into the living room and saw a girl sitting on the couch with a pair of very strange glasses. She looked at me for a second before gasping in surprise.

"Your dead!"she said with no fear.

I looked at her in shock.
