The waves bobbed the ships violently as rain and thunder threatened the dwellers below. Crew men grew uneasy while the captains of each vessel stood on edge. There were a total of eighty ships all together. Some bearing symbols of the house of the silver owl. Others, the oni family emblem. The ship that held Angel would be one of the ones that bobbed on the front line of choppy water. A small messenger vessel had been sent ahead an hour ago to try and speak things over with the empress in a peaceful diplomatic means. "There! I see it!" Someone shouted. Angel's eyes looked upwards towards the crows nest. The crew member that kept lookout waved a green flag as a signal to the other ships that the messenger's vessel had returned. Each would wave their own green flag from above. "Climb on board and see what they have to say." Angel commanded. Once the small vessel was close enough, a few men rowed out to it and climbed on board. Angel with the others waited. However, one of the men climbed on a high pole of the small ship and waved a red flag.

Angel felt himself go numb. The red flag wasn't good. With a heavy sigh he'd look up to the crows nest and signal for the crewmen to go on. Once the lookout waved the red flag, the other ships would do the same to pass on the word. Just as they had done so, the sound of loud whistling pierced the ears of all on board. A loud crash like hot iron against would sounded off. One of the ships caught fire. The water war had begun. Angel's ship was one of the unfortunate ones to be pegged by massive harpoons. The harpoons whistled and tore into the walls on the side of the ship. Breaking wood and letting water flow in. The ship began to be pulled close towards the enemies. "Burn everything!!" Angel shouted. The crew instantly set fire to all their goods and supplies. When their ship was pulled close enough the enemy boarded and a fight broke out. The sounds of swords grinding and clanking to one another echoed in a blend with the harsh rain that began to fall on the flaming ships. Angel clasped swords with one of the invaders. The opponent swung down only to have Angel block the blow. The edges of each blade slide in a grind against one another setting off sparks. Angel ducked, did a low spin and the enemy's stomach would be slashed open.

Spilling the entrails onto the soaked deck and quickly moving on to the next that ran at him with their blade raised. Thats when a rolling fog creeped its way over the choppy waters and began engulfing the fiery ships. An odd smell fallowed the moment Angel's own ship had been swallowed. From there everything became a haze, and then a complete blackout. Cold sand pressed against his skin as he felt the icy waves of water splash against his legs. Slowly lifting his face from the sand Angel opened his eyes. Everything looked double vision to him and silent till the sound of the ocean slowly echoed its way back into his ears. When his eyes cleared up he'd slowly lift himself. Angel looked around and saw bits of wreckage around him. Standing up slowly he'd face the grayed waters. The sky matching the harsh waters as the rain and thunder died down. What Angel saw before him made his head bow in silence. Not far away a ship still slowly sank into the water. Wreckage spread all around without a sign of survivors. Where were the other ships? Where were the other crew men? Most of all, what happened to Angel's brethren? Yesterday he'd received the distress call from his brethren by the sea shores. Naturally, the dhampir went to their aid. He began to miss his mate and children more then ever right now. Yesterday morning he'd bid them goodbye and set off. Closing his eyes he'd close his frozen hands in tight fists. Whipping around and facing what he knew to be the fort and island of the enemy. There was no turning back now.
