Emily lazily pushed her reddish-brown hair from her eyes as she walked through the damp forest. The moon cast a soft glow over her pale skin and her emerald eyes scanned over her surroundings. Her strapless red, silk dress clung to her curves loosely, fluttering in the cool breeze. Emily had been in this forest before but it was many years ago, back when her mother was still alive. When her mother died her father left Emily to fend for herself. She had not heard or seen him since then. She was seven. She was now twenty-three years of age and had matured into a beautiful woman. Whether she was attending parties or simply running errands Emily thrived to look her best. She was not conceited, merely hopeful. Her mother had been the prettiest woman in Emily's eyes and she wanted so badly to be just like her. Emily wished that, one day, she would find herself someone to love her. Until that day she attended both exclusive and home parties.

Tonight she was coming home from a party in the center of town when she passed by the forest. Her body screamed at her to enter it though she knew better. After standing in the opening she entered the forest and made her way through it. She walked barefoot on the cool ground, her shoes left somewhere along her way. Though it was night and she was alone, Emily was not afraid. She felt safe and at peace here though she did not know why. Her lips lifted in a smile as she came across a large lake. She ran to its bank and scanned over it with interest. It sparkled furiously in the moonlight and beckoned her to jump in. Emily walked along the side of the lake and hummed softly to herself. If there was ever a need to escape the city life, she decided that this would be the place to come. With a soft sigh Emily dropped to the ground and stuck her feet in the water. The cold water lapped at her ankles and sent shivers through her body. She looked around to see if she was alone but stopped as she remembered where she was. Emily stood and went to jump into the water but froze in her place. Something large moved in the water and she strained to see it. She gave up as the thing swam away from her. With a frown Emily decided it better to stay out of the water.

A night owl screeched above her and she lifted her head to look at it. She smiled as it flapped through the air to the other side of the lake. Emily turned around and strolled back into the trees after a last look at the lake. She walked silently through the trees and trailed a hand along the trunk of one. Emily spotted a low branch and she smiled to herself. She jumped up and grabbed onto it, pulling herself to sit atop it. Her legs dangled below her and she stretched her arms above her head. Her mind went over the days events. Over the the drooling men and the hateful glares of their wives. Emily chuckled and crossed her hands in her lap. She hadn't felt this peaceful in a long time and it pleased her. She kicked her legs lightly under her and scanned over trees and bushes. A snap of a twig reached her ears but she ignored it as it was probably an animal. Emily began to sing softly to herself and closed her eyes. She inhaled deeply and a smile crossed over her lips. She was content here and considered camping out over night. A jingle echoed over her singing and she pulled a phone from her dress. The screen flashed the name of her previous girlfriend. With a look of disgust she silenced it and tossed it to the ground, not wanting to be disturbed.

User ImageHer vision went black. She could hear nothing but her own heartbeat. She could feel nothing but the warm blood that trickled down her left arm. She crouched low to the ground, backing up behind a tree. Her vision returned to her and she peered out from her hiding place. She saw no one and heard nothing but forest life. With a pained sigh she slid to the ground, leaning against the rough tree. Her fingers explored her arm, brushing softly over her newly gained injury. Clenching her teeth she pushed hard against it, feeling the bullet lodged deeply inside. She knew she would have to remove it and bandage herself up soon. With a knife from her belt she dug the bullet out of her arm, disposing of it in a thorn bush. Her breath came quick and loud. From her dress she ripped a long strip of fabric, trying it tightly around her arm. Her entire body ached and she looked over herself. Small cuts and bruises covered her porcelain skin, obstructing its once flawless complexion. With a small grin she pulled a sack of gold from her dress, rattling it in reassurance.

She was a thief and a well known one at that, though stealing was not what she was wanted most for. Towns throughout the land had placed large bounties on her; mostly for her cruel murders. If anyone were to capture her they would become very wealthy. Though many had tried none had succeeded in capturing her. She was fast, smart, and dangerous. She was a short, well curved woman. Long fire red hair curled to the middle of her back, framing her pretty face. Deep, blood red eyes accented her flawless pale skin. Under the moonlight her skin seemed to glow heavenly. In the dark her eyes saw every detail surrounding her.

“s**t.” She muttered as she stood up, her body screaming in protest.

In the protection of the trees she made her way to a lake. Once she arrived she dropped to her knees, splashing the ice cold water on her face. With a quiet sigh she ran a hand through her hair, wetting the roots in the process. Her arm stung as she softly rotated it and she cringed, letting it rest on her legs. Her head turned quickly as a branch snapped behind her. Her eyes narrowed and her hand curled around her knife. After a long moment of silence she turned back around, splashing water on her face again. The beads hit her like ice, sending chills throughout her body. She slowly relaxed, focusing only on washing her cuts and cleaning the dirt from her skin.

User ImageThe wind whispered through the tall, vibrant trees. The sun shone through the webbing of leaves and cast intricate patterns on the damp ground. The air was moist and smelt of freshly fallen rain. Under thorn bushes small creatures scurried, chattering with on another. High in the trees birds sung their songs, the beautiful notes bursting from their proud breasts to carry softly through the air. In the center of the lush and active forest lay a large lake that sparkled brilliantly under the burning sun. The surface remained still as glass only to ripple occasionally as a bird swooped down for a drink. Butterflies fluttered under the suns rays, their colors reflecting the surroundings like small mirrors. The trees swayed softly in content and the grass shifted its blades to soak in the welcomed sun.

In the midst of the forest like humming broke out, drawing animals near to it. The sound flowed through the forest like a sweet aroma and caught the attention of all the living creatures inhabiting it. Birds sang in unison with the humming as though it was their own song. The wind seemed to blow with the rhythm, swaying the plants in dancing movements. The sound came from a small clearing in the trees in which a young woman sat. Her eyes were closed and her face was soft in relaxation. Her hair swayed with the wind as though it were alive. The woman had sharp features under her ghostly pale skin. Her chest rose softly with every breath she took. Her hands were clasped in her lap and her back was straight, making the woman seem tall. When her song was finished her eyes opened, revealing an astonishing green color that sparkled like diamonds in the light.

With a soft sigh the woman rose to her feet, stretching her arms above her head. Her footsteps were silt as she walked into the trees, leaving the warm clearing vacant. She walked slowly to the lake and stopped at the waters edge. Her brilliant eyes scanned over the peaceful lake and a smile lifted her lips. The wind flowed around her like waves and the forest animals stood in the protection of the trees, silently watching her. She stood stone still looking out across the lake and watching it sparkle and reflect the sun. Her head tilted slightly and she ran a delicate hand through her hair. Her fingers fell to fiddle with the ruby pendant around her neck as she looked absentmindedly at the other side of the lake.

A horrified scream echoed through the thick of forest trees, disrupting the animals that rested. The night sky, thick with fog, glowed faintly with the reflection of the pale moon. Night owls flapped their thick wings, screeching their way into the black abyss that shrouded the forest in darkness. Heavy footsteps smashed twigs and crunched over dead leaves that lay on the forest floor. Footsteps so fast they would be considered sprinting. The footsteps belonged to a girl who ran as though she were being chased. She was a blond woman, clad in a small dress that went down only to the top of her thighs. She had a pretty face, though at the moment it was struck with terror. The girl tripped and fell, sprawled out on the dirt ground. In a second she turned over, looking up in horror.
Above the fallen woman stood a figure. A shift in the thick fog revealed it to be another woman. Contrasting greatly in appearance to the woman on the ground. This new woman had dark brown hair held up in pigtails. She had bangs that covered two crystalline blue eyes. Lips stained red rested on a face, pale as the moon. She was short but very skinny, her small frame was blanketed by a half opened dress shirt and black shorts. On her neck rested a thick black strip of fabric, tied at the back in a small bow. In the right hand of the woman a gun was held, a delicate looking finger resting on the trigger. Her lips curled into a dark smile as she lifted the gun to point it at the woman who lay on the floor. The forest had become silent once again and just as soon as it did, a gunshot pierced through it.
An hour after the disrupted silence the woman, clad in black, sat on a high branch in a tree. One leg dangled over the side as she leaned against the thick trunk, fiddling with a dead leaf. Her head snapped up as a sound to her left reached her ears. She peered through her bangs into the shadows, trying to make out what the sound had come from.

Silence. Stillness. The forest frozen in time. The moon hung high in the pitch black sky, casting a bright and eerie glow through the openings of the tall trees and onto the damp, leaf covered floor. There was no chatter amongst the night creatures that dwelled in the safety of the thick forest. No night owls soared through the air, preying on small rodents scurrying in and out of bushes. There was no evidence of life in the shadows that spread their grasp across the area. To the average eye it would appear as though no living thing existed in the forest. Though to the trained eye, it was much different. All breathing creatures in the forest were frightened by something, something that muted them in their fear. Something that took residence in the forest that night.

The silence was perfect for Svetlana, who had taken residence in a low tree. Her emerald eyes sparkled with delight as she peered through the darkness at her surroundings. Her hands lay delicately on the tree branch that she sat on. Her bare feet dangled over the edge, softly kicking back and forth, disturbing the air around them. With a quick swing of her head Svetlana pushed her copper hair from her face which angrily settled back into the same place that it was removed from. A soft sigh escaped Svetlana's red lips in a rush and she reached behind her head and pulled a tie from her hair, letting it unravel to rest on her shoulder. Her fingers absentmindedly combed through it as she tilted her head back to look at the trees above her. Oh how she would love to stay in that tree forever, surrounded in the silence that presented itself at her arrival. Though she knew much better than that. She could never stay in the same place for very long, it was too dangerous. Her 'friends' who had been tracking her since she murdered a family several towns back, would soon pick up on her trail and come to the forest in search of her.

With a quiet chuckle Svetlana dropped from the tree and landed silently on her feet. She glanced around her quickly then began walking, letting her fingers trail along the rough bark of the trees she remained close to. With every step she took Svetlana felt what was around her. What leaves shifted on the ground and what animals shivered nearby, shrinking back in hopes of remaining unseen. Though Svetlana cared not for the creatures that feared and avoided her. Her main focus at the time being was to find food, though in this forest she might not succeed in locating. If that ended up being the case Svetlana could sneak into the nearest town and kidnap her next meal. She had trained herself to eat only when necessary in order to stay on the move. After several minutes of wandering through the forest proved worthless she slinked through the darkness to the edge of the forest that opened into a town. With a few simple movements she was on the roof of a home. Svetlana closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, sorting through the scents that wafted through the area. After locating her dinner she reopened her eyes and leaped from roof to roof until she landed on the one she needed. Slipping inside she returned to the roof a few moments later, a young girl wrapped in her arms. Svetlana easily returned to the forest and dropped the writhing girl to the floor.

"Don't be afraid." Svetlana said with a smirk as the girl got to her feet and ran.

Svetlana jumped after the girl and drug her to the floor, sinking her teeth into the back of the girls neck. In a ravenous hunger Svetlana ripped through the girl until she was satisfied. The young girl lay sprawled in the dirt, bleeding from the several large areas in which her flesh and muscle had been torn out. Svetlana stood to her feet and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. She had no more use for the body she had just mutilated so she left it and strode into the darkness in search of a lake or stream to clean herself off in. Once she found the lake she knelt by the edge and dipped her blood covered hands into the cold water and scrubbed them free of her meal. She then cleaned the rest of her that was covered in the girls blood and smiled to herself. Standing up she gazed at the water that sparkled with the reflection of the large moon overhead. Svetlana shrugged softly to herself and turned on her heel, returning to the comforting darkness of the shadows.

Where am I? Who am I? WHAT am I?

Deara stepped over the several mutilated bodies that lay strewn across the forest floor. Moonlight cast intricate patterns across the forms that shifted as the breeze whispered through the trees. Deara's light blue eyes traveled over her surroundings and her arms hugged herself tightly. Her pale skin was covered in deep red blood and her soft black hair was knotted with both blood and dirt. How had she done this? She couldn't remember how it happened or even what it was that happened. With a sigh Deara walked solemnly into the shadows and towards the center of the forest. Once she arrived at a lake she dropped to the floor and shot her hands into the ice cold water. Digging her nails into her skin she rigorously scrubbed away the blood that stained her hands and arms. After a few long moments she sat back on her heels and peered into the water. Her face still covered in blood and her hair still tangled brought a frown to her lips. As she wiped off her face she began thinking about the night.

Why couldn't she remember? She killed that family for no apparent reason yet she didn't remember killing them. Once her face was free of the blood she had spilled and her hair was tamed she stood and walked along the edge of the water. The wind picked up and whipped her short hair across her eyes but she made no effort to shield herself from it. Her mind wasn't with her, it was somewhere far away. She wasn't aware of her surroundings in the littlest. With a sigh Deara brought herself back and stopped walking, turning to stare out at the water. Was she a monster? Would she be hunted down and killed for something she didn't remember doing? As another sigh escaped her lips she wrapped her arms around herself and walked into the shelter of the trees. After she pulled herself onto a branch Deara drug her fingers through her hair, smiling as it settled back into it's original place. Surprisingly enough Deara was not disturbed by what she did and the only part that bothered her was that she couldn't remember.
