Chou was around at the start of the Soul Society. She was waiting to find her to person who can control her completely. Chou was created without her wings. She had to gain her wings with doing certain tasks. She traveled around the soul society as a butterfly and helped many people because every time she helper a person a part of her wing appeared. She gained all her wings once Nami appeared in the soul society. Her last task was to help the girl when she was attacked by hollows. Since that day they became one.

Her shikai becomes two fans with blades on the ends. One fan is white, while the other is purple.
Shikai Ability/ Attacks:
Boomerang
- Nami can throw the fans with blades on them and those fan return to her due to Nami being able to control the fans with her spiritual pressure. They are like boomerangs, but are more complex. The fans can be very effective if they are used the correct way. Nami can put some of her spiritual pressure in both fans to make the attack more deadly.
Pollen
-Nami can create falling pollen in her shikai form. The pollen is white bit it glows purple to release its dream like smell to put her opponents asleep. It usually knocks people out, but she is fighting a strong opponent it may be unsuccessful, such as the head captains. It also may not work if she used too much of her spiritual pressure.
Vines
-Nami can create vines that pop out of the ground. She can also control some of the plants around her with her spiritual pressure. She uses this attack to restrain an enemy or to attack. This ability is more successful when used as a restraint.
Silver Wind
- Butterfly's and polled combined into one attack. This attack is used with wind that is created by Nami’s spiritual pressure. The Butterfly’s are purple while the pollen is white. This attack can but used by her hand or with her fans. If she wants a stronger wind she uses her fans.

Nami's bankai is very different from her shikai. She gains butterfly wings that are both purple and pink. Also, her zanpakutou changes back to a normal katana. Her Zanpakutou gains a ribbon at the bottom of it with a fan hanging from it that is both purple with white cherry blossoms.

Flying
-She is able to fly with the wings. She has trouble flying if the wings get wet.
Wind
-Nami can create powerful winds that have different leaves of strength. The winds vary from a tornado to hurricanes. The tornado attack can be a combination on one or more tornados. If she creates just one the attack is much stronger than many mild tornados. The hurricanes are much stronger then the tornados. The hurricanes have strong winds that have hidden blades in them
Butterfly Flashstep
-Butterflies appeared around her. She can use this to cover up or use as a quick way to get around. She can also use this to help other shinigami when they are in trouble.
Sparkling Butterfly Ribbon
-Many butterflies that have ribbon attached to them. They fly around and enemy and have the ribbon wrap or create a sparkling substance around them. This ability if used correctly can paralyze the enemy, but its not fully mastered just yet so it normally backfires. Nami uses this as a last resort.
Bankai second stage.
-Vines wrap up her arms and her stomach. The vines also wrap around her right leg. Her eyes glow light purple. Nami just learned this form and hasn’t completely mastered it yet. She can hold this form for 45 minutes, but after those 45 minutes she passes out.

Shimmering Silk
-a string of silk is shout out of Nami’s hand and can form a cocoon around an enemy. This traps them temporarily.
Metamorphosis
-A shimmering light purple glow appears around Nami and the lights start forming to her hands creating many tiny butterflies. The tine butterflies form in front of her shouting off a beam out butterflies the release the pollen that is within them

- Shoots three beams of light that pin the target to one place on a surface, slamming into his/her body in three places in a shape of a perfect triangle.
37. Tsuriboshi (吊星, Suspending Star)
- Creates a star-shaped cushion of Spiritual Energy, which anchors it to nearby objects with "ropes" of spirit particles. It can stop falling objects, acting like a safety net.

— Summons a shield of condensed Reiatsu to block opponents' attacks.
61. Rikujōkōrō (六杖光牢, Six Rods Prison of Light)
— Summons six thin, but wide, beams of light that slam into a target's midsection, holding them in place.

— A rod formed of energy is thrown towards the target before it disintegrates into numerous short rods which are used to pin the target to the surroundings and render them immobile.

— Binds the arms of a target.[8] According to Hachigen Ushōda, physical strength alone should not be enough to break out of a level 60 Bakudō, however Kensei Muguruma was able to free himself from this Kidō while in his Hollow form.

77. Tenteikūra (天挺空羅, Heavenly Rickshaws in Silken Air)
— Transmits messages to anyone within Soul Society. In addition to reciting the spell, the user must draw specific markings on their arms, which are animated by the spell to convey the messages.
Incantation: "Black and white net. Twenty-two bridges, sixty-six crowns and belts. Footprints, distant thunder, sharp peak, engulfing land, hidden in the night, sea of clouds, blue line. Form a circle and fly though the heavens."
81. Danku (斷空, Splitting Void)
— Creates an energy barrier in the form of a rectangular wall. According to Byakuya, it is capable of stopping destructive spells up to #89.[14] This is seen also when Aizen uses it to block Tessai's hado #88.[15] Tessai, at the time, also mentioned that it was a Forbidden Spell.

— Binds the arms of a target with spiritual fabric and iron shafts.

- Electric current flows through any object the user touches and is able to lead electricity, damaging any target that is in contact with the object the current runs through.

— Fires a blast of purple spiritual energy that will incinerate a target completely when it makes contact.

- A widening tornado-like blast is fired towards the target.

— Fires a massive wave of yellow energy at a target.

— Essentially a doubled version of #33, this spell fires two shots of blue fire with greater potency than the single-shot variety..

— Fires a gigantic blast of spiritual energy resulting in an truly enormous explosion.
90. Kurohitsugi (黒棺, Black Coffin)
— Forms a box of black energy around a target, which is then pierced by dozens of energy "spears", lacerating the one inside from head to toe. Its appearance and function is reminiscent of a common magician's trick, as well as certain torture devices used during the Spanish Inquisition.

Kido Master
-Master at the three main types of Kidō: binding spells, destruction spells, and healing spells.
Bakudō (Binding spells): are a broad category of defensive spells which block or repel attacks or freezes enemies in place.
Hadō (Destructive spells): refer to offensive spells which harm an enemy or cause damage.
Healing spells: do not have known names, numbers, or incantations to cast, and simply heal the target. As the user holds his hands above the patients wounds, his/her palms glow with green spiritual energy to facilitate healing. For the mechanics of healing, the patient's Reiatsu is replenished first. Then the body's Reiatsu works with the healer's Reiatsu to heal the patient's body.
Hohō Masters
-Masters of the technique are obviously by far the fastest beings within Soul Society. Maintaining high speed movements for extended periods of time while only using the least amount of steps to achieve those movements. Masters are capable of using Advanced steps which are considerably harder to initiate. A master can possibly create new techniques but it is most likely a rare occurrence. (Note only those who have trained and achieved mastery either stated or shown, outside any advantage they gain from Shikai, Bankai or otherwise are included in this listing).

-Master Swordsmanship Specialists vary greatly by power and technique. The criteria for a master is simple; one must have masterful skill in swordsmanship above all else. The attainment of this level of skill is a testament to the wielders power and determination. Most Captains are masters, since as the heads of the their divisions, they are the true military power of Soul Society. As use of the Zanpakutō is the Shinigami's primary form of combat, it is preferable to have mastered skill in order achieve the rank of captain though mastery is not excluded to them or even to Shinigami.

-Both Jun & Hakuya expert swordsman highly skilled using their Zanpakutō while sealed or in its Shikai. Biography Before Death:
Nami was born as a New Years baby. Her parents were very happy about this. When Nami turned five she wanted to become an Idoll. Her parents thought her dream was never going to happen because there are millions of girls who have that dream. Nami was the middle child him her family. She has an older brother named Ken who was the annoying. He always picked on Nami and a younger sister named Momoko.
Nami was determined to be in the music industry. She started to take dance lessons at five, and singing lessons at six. She really wanted to perform for people and make them happy. She continued to work for this throughout her schooling. Her graded in school were perfect. When she turned Twelve she went behind her parents back to go to an open audition. Her parents thought she was tutoring someone, but she was really trying to make her dream come true. She passed the audition, but had to get her parents permission first. Her parents wanted her to go to this very intense High School but the decided against it because they wanted their daughter to be happy.
Nami debuted as an idol at thirteen. She became famous fast. Nami came out with five singles a year. When she was fifteen she was working on her tenth single. This was going to be a big deal for her. The company that she worked for was going to have a hug concert and promotion for this. The day before her concert Nami was picking up her younger sister from school when a man shot and killed both Nami and Momoko. The man that Kill Nami and Momoko had something against Nami. He killed her because he beat his sister in the audition. He didn't want Momoko to tell anyone what she saw so he killed her as well.
Biography After Death:
Nami was fifteen years old when she appeared in the Soul Society. She appeared in a different area from her sister. She was taken in by two people who became her parents. They made her very happy. The taught her many different skills that she didn’t know when and how she died, but she knew what she was when she was alive. This made Nami sad for a while. She missed being a singer. They helped her not feel bad for dying and not remembering how she died. They were really good parents to her, but things started to change when she started to gain shinagami powers.
In the middle of the night hollows came to where she lived. During that time Nami lived in the 10th district of the Rukongai. Hollows in that location is not normal. District Ten of the Rukongai is suppose to be one of the safest districts in the soul society besides the Seireitei. All Nami remembered was hearing a roar and seeing a hollow slashing the people who were taking care of her. The last thing that she remembers is the hollows coming towards her. Then the squad Five captain at the time destroyed the hollow just before it harmed Nami. She was in a state of shock. She was crying and felt like she would cry forever. The next day Namiwoke where in the Noble District. The Captain that saved her happened to be one of the Nobles. She told her that she was special. That I have the ability to become a shinagami, but what she didn’t tell her was a descendent of one of the creators of the soul society. Nami is the Chou queen(butterfly queen) lost her oldest daughter years ago. Nami has the same abilities as the Chou Queen. The Chou queen is one of the noble families who help create the soul society. She was the one who created the way of communication that Shinigami use. The Chou Queen created the Hell Butterflys. Butterflys are very attracted to Nami’s presents
Soul Reaper Academy:
One year later I took a test to get into the Shinagami Academy and got into class one, the advance class. She worked really hard every day to get stronger and stronger. She gained her shikai in her second year in the Shinagami academy because she finally heard her shikais name “Chou”. In her third year; she was one of the students conducting the trip to the world of the living. She was going to take the first year students on hollow training mission with two other thrid years. During her time in the world of the living real hollows appeared and began attacking. The other sixth years were injured by the hollows. Nami was able to see the hollows fully. She started to fight it and did a pretty good job. A ranked shinigami appeared and destroyed the hollows. Nami ended up slightly learning her bankai, but it took all of her strength. A rank Shinigami saw the whole thing. A few days later Nami was asked to become a captain of the fifth division
Division Life:
Nami is a very good captain. She always smiles to make her squad feel good. She wakes up early every single morning to run three laps around ever division. After she does that she gets clean up and ready for a day of being a captain. She does morning training sessions with her squad. If they don’t show she goes to the barracks and wakes them up herself and gives them some extra work around the squad. After that training session, Nami goes into her office and starts on paperwork. When she gets bored she just wanders around and talks to other captains.
After a while she gets tired and heads back to her division and office to take a nap. Sometimes she gets disturbed and sometimes she doesn’t when she gets disturbed she does an extra training session. When that is all done; she finishes her paper work and ends up falling asleep at her desk.
This can change from time to time it depends on her mood. Sometimes Nami is found sitting on her roof of the division singing. She sometimes can be lazy and can be found sleeping on the roof of her division.
