It's that time of the year again. Us Catholics attempt to draw closer to God by giving up things that we enjoy, like how Jesus went into the desert for 40 days. Except that anything we could give up would never compare to what He did. Well anyway.
As per usual, everyone in the house gave up sweets, junk food, soda, and any real music we listen to. Nothing but regular meals, tea, fish on Fridays, and gospel for the next month or so. It's gonna be great!
This is something I've always looked forward to, it's just another part of the year, as natural as Spring and as expected as the fair coming into town. It's a chance to set some things in stone for the rest of the year, not to mention shed a few pounds we'll gain back over the year. It's also the feel, I enjoy. The way the days go from being slightly chilly, to feeling the spring in the air, as we go to the Stations of the Cross, and have family bible study(though we haven't done that in a while, honestly)
I'm really going to try this year, to have a closer relationship with God. Sure, I pray, but I don't really like getting on my knees and thinking about everything I've ever needed to ask for or what I needed help with. Along with thanking Him too. And I know, I don't read the bible as I should. But for everything I think about, God and things relating to a spiritual matter fall only as far as third place at the worst, in my mind. I personally see our thought process as a bunch of bubbles, the most forefront what we are thinking now, easily breaking off into a chain of rapidly appearing bubbles as we follow through our lines of thought.
Well anyway. I want to do better. I want to do better, be better, live better. And I'll always need help. Good thing He is always there. I really forgot if there was anything else that needed to be said, so I guess this ends here. Happy Lenten season, you guys. : D
