Planning a Party
Corrinne

I watched as brother dutifully did as he was told never raising an argument. Once he left I walked up to father "Dad, did you know that Victoria is back home safe?" He raised an eybrow. "She has been in sickbed for a while and she is finally all better. So I was thinking we should hold a big dinner to introduce her to the family. Since noone, but brother, has seen her. So I would like you and Collette to attend too."
"Absolutely not." He replied flatly. I pouted and huffed. "Why not?" He replied in a bored voice, "Your planning it, it will be ridiculously over the top." Why did everyone assume I was over the top? I only did what was what I thought necessary for events.
"Sweetheart why not? I would love to meet this girl who has captured my child's heart." I turned around to see a breathtaking woman. She wore a grey dress that was simple and swept to the floor. Her blonde hair on her shoulder, she looked at me through her green eyes before she glided through the room to stand next to father.
This was Collette, Alastar's mother. She was an angel and could never hate anyone. Anyone who knew her could not hate her either. They exchanged glances, and it seemed they had a whole conversation with just a single look. Collette looked up at me, "I will attend and try to get him to come down too. One thing though, try to tone down on shiny things? Last dinner you planned gave me a headache."
"Shiny objects are the best thing for parties and dinners. They distract you from angry fathers that you should be listening to." I saw my father clench his fist and I ran out the door. I skipped down the corridor and took a left down to the next corridor. Five doors down, behind a heavy wooden door with gold trimmings layed Echo's room.
Echo was my father's sister, and my aunt. I knocked on the door with a random rythem. The door was swung open in the middle of my rythem. In the doorway she stood. She had a black suit with leather straps across it and thigh high leather boots. She had black armlets on with metal pieces with one arm at her side and the other against the door that she leaned up against. She had black hair to the middle of her back with black eyes and red markings similar to father's on her face.
"What?" She had a icy voice, I stopped staring for a second to respond, "Tomorrow night there is a dinner! It is to introduce the Lady Victoria to the family, please be there." She ran her thumb over the intricate gold design on the door, "Is it required?" Thinking fast I nodded, "Yes completely required, mandatory, you must be there!" with that I left.
I ran into a servant with thier head bowed as they scurried down the hall. "You stop! I need you." She looked up surprised and came up to me, "I need you to do alot of running so I hope your fast. I need two servants in the dining hall in five minutes and three servants in Lady Victoria's room sent up as soon as I finish up the dining hall. Then tell all of the chefs to prepare themselves for a feast tomorrow night. Then make sure to send servants to every member of the family under this roof and tell them of the banquet tomorrow. Now run and run fast!"
I watched her run off then proceeded to the dining hall. I pushed the tall double doors open and looked at the dusty room. This room was used for special events was cleaned after then normally left alone. It had been a while since I had thrown a dinner party. Most birthdays were celebrated in the ballroom, so this room was only really used when I decided to use it.
I ran my finger along the dusty, rose wood, dining table and soon heard the doors pushed open and panting, "We're sorry if we are late, My lady!" I looked up at the two tired looking servants and smiled. "We're going to have a Party! Well technically it's a welcoming banquet, but that doesn't really change the nature of what needs to be done."
I snapped my fingers using a simple spell, a small orb of light floated to each candlebra lighting the candles. It rose up high to light the intricate gold chandelier with its many candles. I walked to the other end of the room and pulled back the thick red velvet curtains. They ran up high against the window and tied up with golden rope.
"Girls," I called out and they imediately responded, "Yes ma'am?" "What do you think of blue and silver?" I spun around to look at them and they had confused expressions. They both had brunnette hair tied up in a bun and black lightwieght, short sleeved, dresses that came down midcalf and white aprons with ruffled edges.
"As our color scheme for the party?" I smiled waiting for response, "That sounds wonderful" replied one the other soon spoke, "Simply splendid!". I clapped and spun around, "Ok girls, I want you to clean this place up and stay out of the way of my enchantments!" I heard them clambor out of the room to acquire cleaning supplies.
I started with my spells, sparks were flying everywhere, I giggled and twirled working fast. The two servants were constantly dodging trying to dust and clean the room.
I finally stopped to survey my accomplishments. I turned all the gold candelbras, including the chandelier, silver. A midnight blue tablecloth was spread over the long table with a silver, satin, ribbon along the edges. The ribbon came across the four corners on the surface of the table. Silver plates with dark blue embellishments were lined at all the chairs with utensils and crystal cups. The gold rope on the curtains were now silver and the curtains a matching blue.
I had cast illusion spells on the walls, ceiling and window. The window, instead of showing hell, was filled with stars and a crescent moon all shining brightly. The ceiling showed moving blue skinned fairies with white hair and silver wings flitting across more shining stars. The walls had pixies with electric blue hair and pale white skin hiding behind sparkiling shining orbs.
I smiled then turned to the servants, "Is this good, or should I do more? I think it's simple myself, but brother did say to tone it down." Both servants said it was amazing amd I smiled wide, "Good now make sure three servants are in Lady Victoria's room ready to make a dress!" I left for the library closing the door behind me.
I opened the small wooden door to the large library. I inhaled the smell of dust and old books then made my way to the center of the library where the chairs were. Looking around I couldn't see her, but I could hear the sound of turning pages. It sounded muffled and distant so I made my way to the back. I looked around, but still didn't see her. So finally I opened my mouth wide, taking a big breath, yelled out "VICTORIA!" I heard a startled yelp and a thump. I looked about halfway down the row in front of my and saw a hand.
She had curled up in the deep shelf in one of the only empty spaces in this library and was groaning while rubbing her head. "Oops, my bad. Wow didn't know we had an empty spot this big, thought this library would be pretty full by now. Anyways I have to get you a outfit for tomorrow so I need you to make your way to your room."
She crawled out of the bookcase, then straightened her dress "An outfit, what for?" I laughed, "For your party of course, well dinner, we have to hurry if we want them to have enough time to make it, so come on." I grabbed her hand and started leading her out of the library. "Um, Corrinne I think I have enough dresses in my wardrobe as it is, I could always wear one of those" she suggested as we reached the corridor.
I continued off towards her room, "No good, you need a special amazing dress to wear. Something blue, silver, and big!" We finally reached her room and I knocked on the door in another random strange rythem. As I was knocking the servants walked up the corridor with measuring tape and a sketchpad.
"Corrinne, um nobody is in my room so there's no point in knocking, but I can open the door." I looked at Victoria and hit my last three knocks. "Oh I know, it's just fun to do that!" I smiled at her and she laughed and opened the door. One of the servants set a stool down in the middle of the room and stood her up on it.
I grabbed the sketch book and sketched out a quick body. They had started measuring Victoria and I looked at her body and the shape of it. I started drawing I wanted the dress to fit snugly on her torso and right where her legs started it would go out like a ballgown. She couldn't wear a hoop since she would be sitting the whole time, but she could have many petticoats. It wouldn't have sleeves or straps; however, it would have fabric go across the front and back from the edges of her shoulders . The dress would be silver and blue roses would be right in the middle of the flap of fabric at the top. It would be a bunch of five roses. She would wear a matching blue ribbon in her hair and a blue choker. I handed the sketch to one of the servants, "There that's simple enough. Try to have it done in time for tomorrow."
"Now, Victoria you will be amazing tomorrow! The entire family will love you! Plus I listened to brother and tried not to go too over the top. Every thing is amazingly simple! I will have you at the door standing with me and we will greet everyone and they can introduce themselves to you. Oh and you'll need silver heels!"
I patted her on the head then skipped out of the room calling one last thing, "Be up and ready tomorrow we will be here most the day getting you ready!"
