They reran the episode that first made me notice Law and Order. The scene that caught me was when Belzer's character went to interview a conspiracy theorist schizophrenic. In the course of the conversation it becomes clear she's his ex-wife. He's still fond of her, but can't let himself get sucked in. It was beautiful and understated and heartbreaking. It is things like that that I like in my TV. As a franchise, I'm not that into, but they have their moments.
