"Last time somebody appeared in a beam of light, it was our ride," she mumbled. Regardless, she got in a stance, holding her new keyblade like a bat over her shoulder.
"Is it hit first or questions?" she called, watching the figures as they approached.
Marquis looked at Lacie, and said "We'll hit first, unless it's who I think it is..." Suddenly, the two figures stopped in range for battle. Rakshema and an armored woman were standing there, Rakshema with a short sword and Kunai, the armored woman with a Keyblade. Marquis looked at Lacie, and said "It's alright now..." He looked at the two, and said "We're not enemies, You know me!" Rakshema quickly threw a Kunai at him, and it stabbed his chest. Marquis was unphased, as Rakshema said "You're a Nobody..." Marquis sighed, and said "It's Marquis! I'm still me!" The armored figure took her helmet off, revealing Aih, as she said "You're not still you... You're different." "Okay, I'm a little pissed, but that's because..." Marquis stopped, and said "Alright, you know what? Is anybody gonna apologize for this knife in my chest!?"
Lacie's Soul Edge disappeared, and she ignored Marquis's complaining. She launched herself at the two, trapping both of them in a hug. "You're back!" she said with a wide smile, laughing.
She turned to Marquis though and jokingly added "Maybe you should apologize for getting in the way of the knife."
Marquis sighed, and said "He threw it at me!" Rakshema looked at Lacie, and said "Lacie! Get over here, you don't know what he might have done to you." Aih nodded in agreement, saying "He's an enemy now. He killed the King and Queen." "I did not! It was Elcixa! But, forget it! I'm wasting my breath!" He grabbed his Keyblade, and got into a batlle ready stance. Rakshema and Aih looked at Lacie, saying "Lacie! Get over here and help us!"
She looked between the three, quite confused. "Guys, stop! What if it had been me who killed them when I was Heartless? Would you call me an enemy?"
She turned around and walked towards Marquis, but stopped halfway and turned so that her sides were to both. She summoned Soul Edge and held it out in front of her. "I'm not fighting anybody, not my friends I thought were gone and not the one who saved me from my own homicidal shell."
She looked between the three, giving them all "I dare you" glare with amethyst eyes.
Rakshema, who had his sword pointed at Marquis, looked at Lacie. "We know for a fact you didn't kill them." He said. Aih put her helmet back on, and said "If you won't help us, we'll destroy him ourselves." Marquis gasped a little, but then growled in frustration. His stance was broken when the ground shook under everyone's feet. "Not again..." Marquis mumbled. "What was that?" Rakshema asked.
"The Reaver..."
Lacie had put herself in a defensive stance when the ground shook. The floor beneath began to crack and pushed upward. Losing her balance, she fell toward Aih and Rakshema. She used her keyblade last moment, to keep herself from skidding and looked up to the spot she was just in as the ground continued to crack.
"What's the Reaver?" she yelled across the room.
"Yes Marquis, what's the Reaver?" Rakshema said to him. "Remember that big Heartless I told you about?" He asked Lacie. "Well, that's the Reaver. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm about to have my fourty-fifth duel with it." He said, turning around. Suddenly, a huge hole blasted through the ground, as one of the Reaver's legs crawled out like a spider. When all four legs were visible, it lifted itself up, and roared loudly. Rakshema and Aih screamed to Lacie "Come on! We can escape!"
Lacie backed up a few steps, shaking her. "Uh uh, I owe this guy a favor for taking something close to me. Because of him, Elcixa hurt Marquis, the King, and the Queen."
She grinned half-manically, her knuckles turning white from the grip on Soul Edge. "I just have to show this Reaver how greatful I am," she said through clenched teeth.
Marquis laughed, and said to Aih and Rakshema "You two can run off and be little pussies, Lacie and I will kill this thing ourselves!" He starts running at the creature, jumping high into the air, but only landing on it's knee. He fought to keep his grip, as he called to Lacie, saying "Get on the other side! It's a retard, it'll only go after one of us!"
Lacie nodded and ran at the giant Heartless. She jumped up and landed on one of it's legs, then jumped off the leg. Raising the keyblade high over her head, she brought it down into the knee joint. In a swift motion she pulled out and landed on it's arm before jumping up once more.
Mid-air, she pushed her feet against the blade as if it were a skateboard, driving the blade into one of the creatures eyes. She wiggled the blade around in the socket before jumping off the head.
Though, mid-air, Reaver's arm hit her as it went to clutch it's face. She landed on her side with a shout.
Marquis growled angrily at the Reaver, and he cut the Reaver's Knee joint, so much it came off, and he ran up the remaining part of it's leg. He cut at whatever the Reaver tried to use to defend itself, and he screamed in anger, lunging at her, thrusting his Keyblade into it's face. He said to the Reaver "Unlock..." He twisted the keyblade, and a locl-like sound echoed throughout the castle, as he said "Your inner light!" the Reaver screamed, as Marquis said "I need another Key up here!" recomending to Lacie that she get up and get to him.
She pushed herself off the ground, blood trickling down her left arm. Taking Soul Edge in her right. She jumped up it's back, using it's spikes as foot holds and landed next to Marquis. She jabbed her dark blade into the creature, shouting, "Release!"
Marquis would turn the key more, at the same time Lacie did, and more sounds of a locks gears turning would echo throughout. Suddenly, through every orifice of the creature, including it's severed leg, light would burst out brightly. "Light! Destroy this creature!" Marquis yelled out.
It seemed as if the light ripped through the creature, destroying with one blinding flash. As the light faded, the two dropped to the ground.
"That was blinding," Lacie grumbled rubbing her eyes, "it felt almost like the Cornerstone of Light. . ." she looked up at him, still blinking the light away, "That thing appeared when you touched the Cornerstone, why do you think?"
Marquis groaned, standing up after being blinded, and answered Lacie's question. "It was being imprisoned by the Cornerstone. When I touched it, it cracked, and suddenly, s**t's hitting the fan."
"Well I guess that thing did get us outta there, though into more trouble." She turned to him, nervously rubbing the back of her head, "Sorry about the trouble Elcixa and whatever Heartless me caused. I'll apologize to Aih and Rak, too, if they'll listen."
She was quite for a moment before cautiously speaking again with her head bowed, dark bangs covering her violet eyes. "I have these memories, but I don't know if they're of me or her. . . I didn't hurt anybody, did I?"
Marquis shook his head, saying "I was able to keep you cooped up in the basement long enough for me to get your heart back. You broke out when I came back though, so I had good timing." He shakes his head, saying "Straightforward, no, you didn't. It was all her."
She smiled, a soft smile she wasn't used to. "Well I guess I can feel better about that. You saying cooped up makes me feel like an animal or something, though."
She looked around the destroyed castle for Aih and Rakshema, "Whatever Elcixa did to you, you're still the same aren't you? Wasn't it Rak who was moments ago- well back then who said that you're still our friend? What happened that made you so different?"
Marquis laughed a little, but then listened to Lacies next question. He sighed, and sheathed his Keyblade. "Because my face changed, their opinion changed. When they saw that I'd become my true form, they decided my mind changed as well, even though it didn't."
She chuckled lightly, though not really in the mood and joked, "Well anything's better than angsty scowl you had there for a bit." She lightly knocked on the helmet, though left it alone. She wasn't too sure if he was in the mood for show-and-tell at the moment.
"True form? You mean your Somebody? Or something else?"
"No, not really." Marquis replied. He knocked on the helmet as well, saying "This is my head." He was blank about it, but it was obvious. He didn't have a face anymore.
Lacie stopped suddenly and let out a nervous chuckle, "Eh, sorry."
There was a pause for a moment before she finally spoke up, "Well you're still Marquis, and I can handle any form change you can throw at me. . . unless you turn into one of the Mad Baby chains. Only then would I ever freak." She shivered, the image of her least favorite Chain popping into her head.
"So, should we try to talk to them?" she asked. "If not, what are we gonna do? I'll stay by you if you want, until they see who you are. . ."
Race to the Blade and the Organization
Marquis shook his head, saying "Those two won't care. As long as they get that last Keyblade, they won't give two..." He stopped his sentence short, and gasped a little. "That's it! We just have to get that last one!" He said.
He laughed, throwing his arms around Lacie in glee, saying "We can get to them! We can talk to them!" He noticed what was going on, and let her go, coughing a little, feeling awkward.
"That makes them sound a like work-aholics." She laughed, not noticing his odd behavior. She squinted her eyes thinking and began counting off on her fingers.
"So as place, we found the one in the tower, the one here at Disney Castle, and I'm guessing the one Aih was carrying is from her hometown. . .uh, Hollow Bastion?"
"Title-wise, we found yours - The one who wasn't supposed to be, mine (creepy-a** freagin blade) - The one who returned to light, and I'm going to guess that Aih is the purest of them all. Though, she does make a good leader. . ."
A sudden thought occured to her and she asked "Do we still have the keychains. This is a good club-like keyblade, but I was wondering if I'd be able to use the swifter one that came from the bunny keychain."
Marquis gasped again, and said "Wait!" He paced for a moment, processing something in his head. "Mickey said something, before he died, about using TWO Keyblades..." He said, still pacing. He snapped his fingers, saying "Got it!" He grabbed Lacie's, and then the keyring with the Keychains from his pocket. He attached the bunny one to Soul Edge, and the one Lacie mentioned before appeared in her hand. He handed Soul Edge back, and said "There, see?"
"Woah!" she said amazed, before practically cradling her slim B.Rabbit-modeled one. "I thought I would never see my poor B.Rabbit again after her filthy mitts had used it.
Once finished testing the feel of both blades, she beckoned them away until needed. She turned toward to Marquis "Gimme a second" before hurdling toward the broken floor, jumping over the debris and skidding into the hallway.
In a few moments, she was headed back, B.Rabbit that had been dropped by her Nobody in her hand. Approaching Marquis she let out a sigh, "It may not be ideal for Heartless, but I feel wrong leaving it behind. She messed up the blade but I can get it sharpened." Still examining the chipped blade she noticed something imprinted on it.
"This isn't supposed to be there. It's X-I-I-I. She's lucky you killed her, I would've gone berserk had I seen this," she grumbled.
Marquis looked at the blade, and said "XIII?" He examined it closely, saying "The Organization... They're definetly making a new foothold..." He looked around, saying "Be careful, there might be others here to avenge Elcixa..." He sighed, and said "I already know quite a bit about them..."
B.Rabbit disappeared after a finished thorough inspection and she looked around them cautiously. "Since she was in it, I'm guessing it's a bad Nobody group? What are they after? And, uh, how do we get outta here to get the next blade?"
Marquis thought for a moment. "Organization XIII was an old group of Nobodies that sought to use Kingdom Hearts as their means of retrieving their own heart. Sora stopped them, but now they have a new leader..." He explained.
He sighed, and said "I was also given a new name by them, but I don't really accept it..."
"Are you in the Organization, or did they just include you anyways? What's the new name?" She was looking through the rubble and nearly jumped up when she found the remains of the table cloth. She worked on tearing a cleaner piece off and wrapping up her left upper arm as she spoke, "Kingdom Hearts? Is that why Elcixa ran off with mine? Though it was technically her Heart too. . ."
"She took it to add to Kingdom Hearts' door, to make it open." Marquis told Lacie. "Your's is strong, so it would help greatly..." He said. He listened to her question about his name, and said "My new name is Xerjyr. My Somebody was named Jerry." He sighed, and said "Like I told you, I don't accept that name..."
She had to hold in a laugh before she could agree, "Yeah, Marquis suits you much better. Well that should be proof enough that you're still you. Now come on, we gotta get that Blank Blade first if Rak doesn't want me pounding the truth into him."
Marquis nodded, and said "Now, how to get out..." He looked around, and said "Got it!" He pointed his palm beside him, and a large, black portal appeared. "Dark Corridor. Helps alot." He said, laughing a little. "After you." He said to Lacie.
She looked warily at the swirling shadows but carefully stepped in. Ahead of her was a long dark tunnel that seemed to branch off in places, but she couldn't tell if it was a trick of the eye. Behind her was like an open doorway to the castle. "Marquis, how do you find your way in this thing?" she called to him.
Marquis looked inside, and shrugged. "It's labelled for Nobodies, I think." He said before walking in past Lacie. "Follow me." He said, leading her through some of the tunnels.
As she followed close behind, she watched the shadows, an uneasy feeling crawling on her skin, as if the shadows were alive. "So you can go anywhere with this? What happens if you run into another Nobody?"
Marquis shrugs. "Not sure. Never have." He said. He turned a corner, and the Corridor ended with the center of Twilight Town, which was empty. "Here we are." He said. "Come on."
She stepped out of the Dark Corridor into the golden light of a lasting sunset. She stretched her arms out wide, receiving the light with gratitude. "It feels good after being locked up for so long, she sighed.
"So where to start looking. We already found the one at the tower . . . Who's blade was it originally?"
Marquis thought for a while. "The one we got at the tower was Sora's, but I got it as Roxas..." He said. "You got The King's old one, but as Riku... and now I believe that Aih has Riku's, as Sora." He explained. "So, we just have to get Roxas', which mean that Rakshema is The King."
She laughed, "Well he's a goofball, but pretty good when he gets serious. So what do we know about Roxas? He lived here, right. . ." Her eyes lit up suddenly "Hey! What happened to that blue little orb he gave you. That was him at the Castle, right?"
Marquis nodded, saying "You're right! Maybe it'll help us..." He pulls it from his pocket, and holds it up to the sun. Suddenly, a narrow beam of light would point to an alleyway across the bazaar. "Come on!" He said, running towards it.
She ran after him, following the beam of light to the alleyway. Though, once inside, the sunlight was blocked by the walls, cutting off the light with it. At the end, there was what looked a caged wall with a boarded up door. "So, uh, we need to find more light or something. . ."
Marquis looked at the fenced off alleyway. "That's it..." He said. He felt like something in his head was telling him, go in there. He looked at the fence, and said "I think the Blank Blade's... inside."
"Well let's get it!" she announced, moving to the doorway. She began pulling at the top board; it wiggled around easily, as if the wood and nails were old. With a foot against the other board, she gave a final tug, removing the top one as she stumbled backwards. "Two to go."
Marquis moved Lacie aside, and drew his Keyblade. "I got this." He said, and suddenly chopped at the boards, which broke soon after. He laughed a little, and put the Keyblade on his shoulder before opening the door. Sure enough, the Blank Blade was there, but not without company. Ark and his Dagger-wielding duo were in there, and Marquis gasped. "Hey! What are you doing in here!"
Lacie looked inside and gasped to find the the three. Though her big question wasn't what they were doing. "How did you idiots get in here?!" she growled.
She noticed one of them was the one she had scared off so long ago and grinned manically, "Hey you! You may not remember, but if you know what's good for you you'll hand over that blade and run off." Her eyes lit up almost widely, a strange thrill flashing in their violet depths.
Marquis would've had a wide grin on his face, were it not for his form, as he said "Looks like you idiots crossed the wrong path!" Ark screamed angrily, pointing at Marquis and Lacie. The dagger wielders suddenly grew to a pitch black as the lunged at the two. Marquis struck the one attacking him with his keyblade, destroying it instantly. If Lacie did the same, she would get the same result.
She was shocked, backing up a bit, "What just happened? They disappeared. . . Like they weren't really there at all." She glared up at Ark, her eyes demanding an answer.
Ark looked confused and afraid. "We have Keyblades. He's afraid." He said. He laughed, and ran at Ark, attacking him quickly. Ark lasted only around three hits before suffering the same fate as the other two. He laughed a little, as he said "Mission accomplished."
She didn't show the same enthusiasm as she picked up the blank blade. "Something' up," she said quietly, "people don't just disappear from a few keyblade hits. He may be stupid but he looked human..."
"Heartless are alot weaker when their opponent wields a Keyblade, Lacie." Marquis told her. Suddenly, Rakshema and Aih were at the door, saying "We'll be taking that now." Marquis looked at them, and said "Why? So you can say I'm just another enemy, and attempt to kill me again?"
Lacie backed up at the sight of the two, holding the keyblade close to her body, wrapping her arms tight around it. "I'm not moving till you guys stop being prejudice. You can't take a Nobody's old keyblade and still hate them." She backed up farther, and plopped herself down on a dusty couch, curling herself protectively around her prize.
Rakshema and Aih laughed, and said "Prejudice!? You don't know what he did!" "I didn't do anything!" Marquis yelled to them. "You were aware of it! You could have stopped it!" Rakshema said. "I don't know what you're talking about!" Marquis said, arguing. "You're the one that killed the king and queen! You could have stopped your body from doing it!" Aih said to him. "No, I didn't! Elcixa did, using my body as a puppet!"
Run Away to More Mysteries
Lacie looked up with a bit of shock. "She did that? I feel really bad for letting that ugly thing take my heart. There wouldn't be a problem if I had fought. . ."
She saw that neither wanted to listen at the moment and a sudden urge of rebellion coursed through her. She suddenly jumped up from the couch, clutching the Blank Blade against her chest and pushed through the two, summoning her Crimson Usagi (name I gave her other, slimmer blade) once past them. She dashed out the ally, and up a small set of stairs out into the market street.
To either side was either the bazaar, which she knew they could get to from the other ally exit she and Marquis had entered, and a large hill leading to what she remembered was the train station.
She ran on, not taking time to look back and see if they were close behind or not, until she came to the plaza; the large clock-tower looming over her was lit by the sunset, making it seem golden. She looked around, and saw no place to go other than the tunnels, which she was sure she would get lost in. As a last choice, she ran to the edge of the plaza, catching sight of the houses far below and the trains on their tracks.
Marquis watched as Lacie ran, while Rakshema gave chase. Aih stayed behind to fight Marquis, but he refused to fight her. "Aih, can't you tell! I didn't do all of this!" Aih though, refused to listen. She attacked him with a fury of swings and spells, while Rakshema finally caught up to Lacie.
"Give me the Blank Blade..." He said to her as she would be looking down on the town. "You're no going to get away from me Lacie...." He told her. As she looked down, she would hear Roxas' voice, telling her something. "The Old Mansion, there's something there." The voice told her. "Let's get going!" Another voice told her. If she'd heard Sora's voice before, then she would recognize it here.
She turned around, back to the town, out in the distance, the sunlight seemed to glimmer off something. She could only only see the tip of a tower over the towns wall, but it seemed to call for her.
She turned back to Rak with downcast eyes. "I'm sorry, Rakshema." Though, it wasn't for running away. Eyes, still downcast, she jumped up, landing on the banister. With a sad smile, she jumped again, plunging down into the city.
Air rushing past her, she took a deep breath, and positioned herself for a landing. She landed on the roof of a taller building before jumping off again to land on the trolley beneath her. She glanced one look up at the clock-tower and plaza. before heading towards the far wall of the city. There, as if she expected it, there was a hole in the wall, leading to a forest.
She ran through the woods, not looking back, but listening for the sounds of pursuit until she came to a large, rusty gate with a lock.
"Don't do this," she grumbled, knowing it was to tall for her to easily climb. If she did that, Rakshema would surely catch her, even if he went the long way.
Sora's voice echoed in Lacie's mind once again, saying "It's not a key for no reason, you know." This time, though, it sounded a little more... mature. suddenly, a voice similar to Marquis', but rather different, replied "It's not? What else does it do?" Then, an image of Sora pointing his Keyblade at something would appear in Lacie's eyes.
His Keyblade suddenly glowed at the tip, and a thin beam of light appeared, suddenly opening a lock. Sora was teaching Lacie, with his memories.
She jumped back a step and held her keyblade at arm's length. The end began to glow just as the memory, and a beam of light hit the lock. The gates opened before and she ran through into the mansion. Once inside, she closed the doors and barred the door with a plank and a broken clock.
"Where to?" she wondered, walking up the stairs in the middle of the room.
Sora and Roxas wouldn't be heard, but suddenly, a strange, deeper voice spoke ((DiZ!!)). "The Computer's Data appears to be corrupt..." The voice told her. Another voice (Riku Ansem) said "Then fix them." The first voice said "It will take a while. Sora's memories aren't easy to recover."
"Memories?" she asked aloud, wandering to the eastern side of the building. A door to a room was ajar and she slowly pushed it open to a grey room lined with books and a large hole in the floor with stairs.
"Hello?" she called aloud, wondering if anyone was actually there.
No voices would return Lacie's call, but then the deeper voice in her mind said "These memories are still corrupt. Namine must be up to something with them..." Suddenly, an image of three strange people, including one wearing the same hood as Elcixa, appeared in Lacie's mind. (Ansem Riku, DiZ, and Namine.)
"The organization?" she asked aloud, curious and confused. "I don't what to do. . ." she looked down at the blank blade in her arms, hoping it might provide some type of clue.
"Corrupt memories. . . can someone mess with your memories?"
"I can..." Is all Lacie would hear suddenly. If she turned around, she would see Namine, looking older then in the image, looking at Lacie. "I accidentaly corrupted Sora's memories when recovering them..."
She gave the fair-haired girl an incredulous look, "But Sora, isn't he. . . gone?" she asked quietly. She had been led to believe the young hero had passed away with time, though not knowing how long ago he lived.
Namine nodded, and said "Sora lived to the age of twenty one, before He and his friends were overwhelmed by the New Horde of Heartless..." She sighed, and said "That happened about five years ago... None of his friends survived... Not even Kairi..." She looked at the door, which as being bashed on the other side by someone. "He's here for it, You know... That Blank Blade..." Namine said.
Rakshema was bashing away at the door, trying to get past Lacie's barricade.
She shook her head slowly, "Marquis and I got it for them, to show he was still our friend, but they still won't believe him. . . It was my Nobody's fault."
"What else can I do?" she asked aloud, more to herself as she slid down the wall to sit, "He'll catch up eventually, then they'll hate me, too. I don't want to go back to being alone anymore."
Namine said to Lacie "You won't be anymore. Marquis will always be there to help you not feel so alone, no matter what. he's a true friend, Lacie." Suddenly, the bashing stopped, and there was combat outside. "He's here to protect you, even..."
