A Short Random Story - By: Kaitlin Ballard
Kaitlin's tripped over a small rock as a snake chased her down a dirt path in a small wooded area! Her brown eyes glistened with tears as the snake, nearly five feet long, rose in an attack position.
Great, is this how my life is going to end? she thought as a tear rolled down her cheek. She screamed, closing her eyes tight and holding her arm in front of her, preparing for the attack that seemed to be taking forever to come.
"Damn snake!" Kaitlin heard a male's voice say. "That's the ******** fifth one today!"
Kaitlin slowly peeped between her fingers to see that a large sword was stabbed through the head of the snake. She watched the body wither and finally die. Then slowly, she followed the length of the sword til she saw the owners face. It was James; her best friend. "Kaitlin, are you alright?"
Kaitlin looked away, her cheeks turning a brilliant shade of red. "Yes, thank you, James!" she said in small squeaky voice that was unlike her own.
"No problem, Kaitlin." James said. "Let's go!"
James grabbed Kaitlin's hand, running and slashing any other snakes that got in their way. Finally they stopped a moment to catch their breaths. Kaitlin's face was still red and she looked at James, wishing she could hold him, tell him that she loved him. James looked at her funny.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked.
"Looking at you like what?!" Kaitlin said, trying to act surprised.
"Never mind, Kaitlin! Anyway, let's rest here a moment."
James sat under a tree, his sword laying next to him on the left. Kaitlin paced back and forth; she'd pause for a moment to look at James, but when their eyes would meet, she continued pacing again.
"Would you stop?!" James said. He sounded anxious. "You're starting to freak me out. Just sit down!"
Kaitlin sat next to him and wrapped her arms around her legs and rested her head on her knees! "Sorry, James!" she said, quietly.
James pulled Kaitlin close to him, resting her head on his shoulder. He slowly rain his hand trough her hair. "It's alright." he said.
Kaitlin felt her cheeks get hot as they turned so red she thought she'd pop. "James..." she started. She paused and stared up into his green eyes.
"What is it, Kaitlin?" James asked. Kaitlin stayed quiet and James again asked, "What is it?"
Instead of speaking, Kaitlin slowly kissed James on his lips, hoping that was a good enough answer for him. She then pulled away, embarrassed, and covered her face with her hands.
