Richard is a fairly intelligent man. When he was growing up, he found himself interested in history, and the world around him, leading him to grow up curious. He always wants to know the full picture of something, even if it means getting in trouble to learn something. His father taught him German whilst he grew up, his father thinking it would help him get ahead in life. In his later teenage years, he began to find himself interested in crime and criminals, and took subjects such as Law and Psychology at high school, as well as history and politics. He then furthered his education in college, his major being Law, as well as taking Psychology and History on the side. He has also learned basic Russian and Japanese, in order to help him with cases involving foreign criminals. He has an extensive knowledge of criminal psychology in order to help him with cases.

Food: Richard likes big, meaty foods, such as steak, sausages and ribs. He also loves German foods, being a big fan of German sausages in particular.
Drinks: Richard loves beer, German beer in particular. He often has a drink after work in a bar, or even at his own home. He also loves whisky and other spirits. He may sometimes have a cup of coffee to try and beat a hangover, but doesn't drink it too often. He mostly drinks water during the day. He also drinks apple juice in the morning.
TV and films: Richard likes Comedy TV shows, however most normal sitcoms annoy him. He also likes medical and crime dramas. A guilty pleasure of his is to watch problem chat shows, but he never tells anyone. Most of the time though, when he is watching TV, he watches the news or a documentary.
Books: Richard mostly reads non-fiction books, like historical books or political books. He often reads books on crime as well.

Food: Richard dislikes a few vegetables, like spring onion, celery and beetroot. However, he doesn't really dislike much food, and is usually happy to eat anything.
Drinks: Richard hates all types of wine, and is always reluctant to drink it. He also dislikes most fizzy drinks such as coke, pepsi and lemonade. He never drinks tea and also hates any type of fruit juice other then apple juice.
TV and films: He hates soap operas, and always refuses to watch them. He also hates cheesy romances and dislikes nature documentaries.
