The chrysanthemum ( or mum for short) is the birth flower for the month of November. in China the chrysanthemum is one of the 'four gentlemen." It is a symbol of nobleness. I In Japan the flower can also be connected to nobleness. For example, the name of the position of the emperor is known as the "Chrysanthemum Throne." It is also their national flower. In Australia they are given to mothers on Mother's Day. In parts of Europe it is a symbol of death and is used in funerals and on graves. This is especially true with white mums.Mums are also used as a symbol of the sun.
