|| Biography || Karen was born in what used to be called New York City years ago. At the age of 4, instead of being off playing with other children her age, she was finding ways into what was left of houses and taking whatever she could find. Her parents were astonished at her behaviour, but since they lived in poverty, she was never punished. Often times the small family of three would only survive based on what Karen brought home from her days out. They always questioned her how she knew where to get in and how she went about her stealing. She would simply reply that she heard the police talking about it. Her mother dismissed it as luck, but her father
At the age of 12, her mother managed to get a job in a shoddy hospital somewhere off towards what used to be the western coast, and they moved. Her father had found a job as a janitor in the hospital, while Karen was forced to attend a small school during the day. Here she learned that everybody's days were not made up of doing whatever they pleased, and that society had definite rules. She was kicked out of class or sent to the office multiple times for acting out, getting in fights, or cussing out the teachers. They labelled her as a problem child, and none of the teachers wanted to put up with her. She was passed from class to class, never keeping the same friends, because she find them whiny or clingy or nosy or had some other problem with them. One day some girl had beat on her friend, and Karen decided to get revenge on the bully, although the bully was more than twice her size. The older girl clobbered her head with a brick, and Karen ended up getting a concussion and lost her hearing. Her mother was asking the doctors every day if there was a way that they could restore her hearing, but they only told her to wait.
When Karen was nearly 17, she was in her last year school, and in just a few short months would be free of it for the rest of her life. One day, while in class, the teacher distributed a test, explaining that the school had recieved one ticket for a student to board the Salvation. As the teacher passed the test out, she had skipped over Karen, assuming she was just stupid as she had done her homework or done very well on tests. Karen went up to the desk, took a test off of it, returned to her seat and finished it in record time. The teacher scoffed at it, but checked the answers anyhow, just out of curiousity if she had just picked them at random.
After the testing period had ended, Karen found herself taking a second test, to prove it wasn't all just a fluke. After successfully passing the second test, she found herself on her way home with a letter detailing everything about the Salvation and the requirements and such. On her way home, before her very eyes, she saw the hospital where both her parents worked, up in flames. She ran home, hoping that maybe her parents had gotten off early or something. She busted the door open, and found nobody to be there. At first she had been iffy about going to the Salvation, but since both her parents were likely gone, she saw no other reason to stay on Earth. That same day she filled out the forms, and sent them off.
Later that day, one of the doctors that had not been in the hospital at the time that it caught on fire showed up at her apartment. Doctor Wells, who was a good family friend, informed her that he had been working on an experimental procedure to attempt to bring back her hearing. She agreed, not seeing anything to lose. That same night, Doctor Wells took her to a research lab, and put her under anesthetic before the procedure, as it would deal a great amount of physical pain. 14 hours later, Karen awoke back in her own bed in her apartment. She heard somebody breathing clearly, and she looked around and was startled to find nobody. Going out into her dining room, she wasn't surprised to find Doctor Wells asleep on the sofa. Gently she awoke him, letting him know about her hearing. He confirmed that he had greatly enhanced her hearing, and that she could adjust it by use of a small dial that looked like an earring in both of her ears. A bit shocked, Karen was very thankful to the doctor, and he left.
Not too long after watching Doctor Wells leave, she found herself packing what little she had to herself and what she chose to keep of her parents, and headed out the door of their little 2 bedroom apartment, boarded a bus that would take her to the shuttle that led to the Salvation and never looked back.
|| Personality || Karen is hot headed and stubborn. Most people annoy her, especially those who are either whiny, clingy, or overly cocky. However, if one can get past her tough exterior, they'll find that she's actually a great ally to have, and will always have your back. She's hard to read, and seems disinterested the majority of the time, but she usually is paying attention.
|| Talents || Karen is a math wizard. She's most comfortable working with numbers and computers. She's also quite good at understanding what she reads and has a photographic memory.
|| Skills || Superhuman hearing. Also has self defense skills.
|| Hobbies || Playing 'bad' tricks on people, cooking, reading, fiddling with computers, and hockey.
|| Likes || Technology, new and interesting food, competition.
|| Dislikes || Wimps, whiners, bland food, having nothing to do.
|| Job || Unemployed
|| Tech. Familiarity || Above Average
|| Surname || Supersingingsox
I would like to request a Salvation I.D.
