Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor will be appearing as a guest speaker at Oxford University next month. Taylor will address the Oxford Union in early June, according to the schedule published on the union’s Web site.
The Oxford Union Society — commonly referred to simply as the Oxford Union — is a debating society in the city of Oxford, Britain, whose membership is drawn primarily but not exclusively from the University of Oxford.
In a radio interview, Taylor reflected on the invite and said he too was surprised by it.
“I’ve been asked to speak at Oxford University, which is very ironic seeing as I didn’t graduate from high school,” he said. “They took a vote about who they would want to speak at their student union and I was the number one pick, apparently, so I was like ‘Yeah, okay, let’s do this.’ I’m probably going to swear and sweat a lot.”
