Chapters to my new story
Chapter Two:
Escape

I never truly understood humans.
Their laughter
Their tears.
Why do they cry?
Why do they laugh?
These things are something I myself cannot do.

I remember the smell of the rain almost as clearly as I recall the stench of blood. The woman's body fell back to the floor, the golden strings uncoiling from my fingers. She made a slight thumping sound as she landed down to Earth.
Silence.
The smile vanished from my face.
Thoughts ran rampant in my mind, utter fear ate away at these thoughts before I had time to make sense of them.
What have I done?
The woman's body who had earlier danced elegantly laid back to her returning state of death. Her eyes fixed to the floor, her hair limp and pale, I absorbed myself in the smell and feel of death.
What is death truly?
What does it mean to die?
Voices echoed in the hall, heels hit the wood floor, a man trailed behind a woman, I could hear his voice, a voice that reminded me of the rain.
"....The patient in Room 205 you say?"
"Yes doctor, the patient was experiencing something similar to a seizure and just...passed."
"I see..."
"Doctor what of the other patient? What do we do with her?"
"What we have already been doing. She has seen death many times. Leave her there."
"But Doctor, are you sure that is wise?"
"I don't leave it up to you to question my decision, now go attend to that boy in Room 134...Pretty serious injury he has..Parents are worried sick."
"But Doctor.."
"Go."
Silence between the two, the sound of heels went off in the opposite direction, the rain moved in my direction.
A knock on the door.
The man entered.
He wore a clean white jacket and had black hair that was parted two different ways, he wore a strangely indifferent look on his face that was uneven with the atmosphere of fear that filled the room. His eyes moved down studied the bloodied corpse feeling her hair, her skin, checking uselessly for a feel of warm breath on his hand.
"Thought you could get away with it didn't you?"
The voice I had once thought of to be the sound of rain now rang in my ears like thunder, his white jacket faded to a dark shade of gray, his eyes scanned my body, looking deep within my own eyes.
"Those eyes..They are the eyes of a wolf..the eyes of a traitor."
The eyes of a wolf..
The eyes of a traitor.
The word circled around my ears swarming me like a cloud of mosquitos.
"...Traitor.." I tested the word on my own tongue, how despicable it tasted, a bitter aftertaste filled my whole mouth, my breath smelled of the word.
Traitor.
"Five years..." thunder cracked again, "Five goddamn years! Five years of service and this is how you repay us? Five years of fixing every single one of your...imperfections and this is how you repay us? By slaughtering the innocent?!"
Minutes of silence passed between us, his hands curled into a tight fist and rose to his feet. His face flushed itself of all color remaining only a deathly pale, he took a few steps towards me and stopped.
"...I'm going to show you the meaning of hell b***h."
I felt the touch of a man for the first time in my life.
His hand curled themselves around my throat squeezing the life out of me, I mustered up all the strength I had to release a scream, but it was weak with my years of silence.
I saw my life passing before my eyes.
I saw all the things I wanted to do but never could of done because of my years at the hospital.
I saw myself on the outside world
I saw myself laying dreamlessly with a man.
I saw myself as an ordinary human being.
And then at that moment a strange vision came to me, something in my five years of imprisonment I had never imagined before.
I saw myself as a puppeteer.
I saw myself in control of their destiny.
Their actions.
Their words.
I regretted that my true purpose in life had come to me too late, I could still see the corpse's dance in my mind. the way her arms swayed, the way her legs moved swiftly without a need for rhythm, the first smile that had formed in five years.
Perhaps there was still hope.
Perhaps I could still save myself.
My eyes moved from the man's face and took notice to the detail of his hair, shorter hair would be more difficult to work with but it would have to do. I took hold of a handful of hair and felt the string of filament curl around my fingers, his hands still grasping my throat began to quiver in disbelief, I wasted no more time.
"Release!"
The man's hand detached themselves from my throat instantly. The strings loosed from my grip causing him to stumble to the floor, I stood over him watching the look of hysteria overtake the blind rage that once aimed to take my life.
"What...What are you?!"
"I am..." I began to answer, the visions flashed back into my mind, visions that made a slight smile form across my face. "I am a puppeteer."
The man rose to his feet once again, but for a different purpose. He looked away from my eyes and ran out of sight, the back of his scalp spotted with blood.
I knew it would not be long before the story of my talent ended in my dispatch from the hospital. the thought freighted me, the thought of leaving, but I knew it was inevitable.
The height of my only outlet never seemed higher at this moment.
I opened the window and paused. I could feel the slight breeze coming in the room that smelled of rain, carefully I put one leg over the outside of the window and working on the second I could feel my heart racing racing against my chest.
I was nearly out the window when I was stopped by a voice.
"Wait." It was a voice belonging to a man.
Fear overtook me, I was caught, done, done even before I had made my escape, frustration boiled over inside of me.
"Are you the woman who called herself a "puppeteer?"
His question caused me to look up.
A man dressed in pure white stood at my doorway.
