Indifference
I sit, I wait, I watch the day.
My mind goes as it may.
I sleep the night, my dreams fly by.
Not even in my dreams can I cry.
Help is close, but out of reach.
It will allow me to ban this nightmare’s screech.
This sense of dread is a pain.
Those thoughts are riddled with distain.
I know this must be a sin.
I am indifferent toward all but my love and my kin.
Others must think it a blessing, being emotion free.
A curse from the devil, that’s what I see.
I have chosen; I cannot stay.
My mind will be lost until that fateful day.
The day is far away, I sigh to keep that fact at bay. Jacob Harvat
