The night of sacrifice was eerily silent, not a sound seeming to penetrate the thick air that had enveloped itself upon the dry land. A full moon was perched in the sky, it's pale blue rays lighting the path of a large group of men carrying a still figure on a long, wooden chair, two men on each of the four poles supporting the chair off the ground. The figure being carried was covered in a dark cloak, the moonlight turning it a pale white as it touched it from it's seat in the sky, surrounded by twinkling stars. The figure lifted their head slightly, hardened blue eyes peeked out from under the cloak hood, midnight black bangs falling into their place around the sharp eyes. A timid wind suddenly whipped up around the group, rustling some bush and tree leaves nearby, finally breaking the deafening silence, but not soothing the tension gripping the group of men, who quickened their pace as the sound of crashing waves became louder and more apparent as salty sea air touched their senses, stinging their noses and eyes. The figure in the chair shivered, pulling the cloak closer around them to make it appear as though they were cold. One of the men noticed and growled softly.
"Don't be so weak, Scarlett, the air of the sea shall be much colder once you've gone farther out on the water." he said, his voice low and gruff. The figure didn't answer, but nodded some, lowering their head again to stare at their lap. An inward growl built in their throat, but they didn't allow it to escape past their lips as they knew it would anger the men. Before long, they'd reached the beach and followed the shifty sand to a small, dinged up wooden boat waiting by the lapping waves. The men put the chair down and two of them grabbed the sacrificed person's upper arms, roughly, heaving them to their feet and dragging them to the boat. Heaving them inside, they forced them to sit in the bottom and started to push the boat into the ocean current. "Make the water god happy, Scarlett, you hear? You want your village to survive, don't you?" The same gruff voiced man asked, directing a glare at the figure in the boat, who turned to him, still hiding their face, and nodded. "Good. We'll send your apologies to your father." He promised, the boat finally catching the current and was carried away from the men. The figure watched them until they were only small dots and sighed, tossing the hood off their head with a growl.
"I hate those men so much. Thankfully Scarlett and I are the same height." The male grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest grumpily and settling back into the boat as he closed his eyes, "At least she's safe, which I'm thankful for...." He said softly, hoping his sister would be happily. He sank down some in the boat, tossing some black bangs from his eyes and yawning widely, "Hm, might as well sleep, nothing else to do...." Without another word, Ze drifted off into sleep, his light snores the only other sounds apart from the waves and creaking of his wooden boat. A soft breeze ruffled his already messy hair, but the young man just sank farther into the wood, crossing his arms tighter over his chest as he fell deeper into sleep, dreaming of his home and family, how it used to be before his mother passed.
