The Unkown Soldier steps off the battle and weather worn Raven onto the concrete of what was once Azura but is now a Lambent and Locust infested shell of it's former image the sound of gunfire and explosions can be heard in the distance, the corpses of Locust, Lambent, and Gears litter the ground from battles long over, the smell of death fills the air nearly making the Soldier and his small four man squad gag. They begin to make there way towards the sound of the battle in the distance, looking back to see the Raven that had dropped them off heading in the direction it had come from to pick up more troops only to be clipped by a Locust mortar. The Raven begins to spin out of control it's main rotor completely destroyed by the hit it careened back towards the drop off point towards the Soldiers group, they all scatter running for nearby cover just as the last of them finds a spot to hide and explosion rings throuhg all there ears as the Raven hits the ground, bits of flaming shrapnel rain down on the squad none of it big enough to do any real damage. As they did before the Raven went down the squad began heading towards the battle in the distance again. As they got progressively closer to the fight they began encountering more and more resistance Lambent and Locust alike. The first few firefights were what they had expected to encounter but after the first two firefights the enemies forces began getting too large to fight directly whenever they could they snuck by the enemy. Unfortunately the leader of the squad was first to die. While sneaking past a group of Lambent he stepped in front of a frag grenade one of the Locust that had fought- and died agianst the Lambent left behind, he died instantly, but luckily the Lambent weren't smart enough to take notice to the sudden explosion letting the remaining three men sneak by without any trouble. As they continued through the many different buildings of Azura the gunfire got louder and louder until the squad reached the door that lead to a plaza near the hotel where what was left of Delta squad was fighting off Queen Myrrah and her Royal Guard. Just as the Soldier and his two remaining squad mates got to the large oak door two mutated Lambent Drudges burst through the doors immidiately scooping up the Soldiers two squadmates, ripping them both in half, just before dying one of the suqadmates activated the frag grenade on his hip blowing up one of the Drudges the force from the explosion caused the other Drudge to stumble backwards out the door the two beasts had entered from. It was torn to pieces by the crossfire between the Locust and COG soldiers, now the only one left of his squad the Unkown Soldier picked up his Lancer Rifle with shaky hands, he wasn't very experienced in actual combat this was actually his first major mission aside from that he was as green as grass. AS the adrenaline began coursing through his body the Soldiers hands steadied and he charged outside heading for nearby cover firing at anything that didn't have blue armor on, he dove behind a fallen pillar reloading the clip in his Lancer he peeked his head over cover firing at two Locust Grenadiers running towards him with there Gnashers firing the first one drps where it stands but the other one gets close enough to begin blowing chunks of Marble from the pillar before the Soldier killed it, the Soldier stood and reached over the cover grabbing the Frags from the Grenadiers corpse ducking down just as three Drones fired at where he had been standing a few seconds ago he quickly planted the Frag on the pillar and dived away just as the Drones got around the pillar detonating the granade killing all three of them instantly. Just then all the Locust in the area all started shouting incoherent things that must have meant something to the others becasue they all began retreating towards the hotel most likely to back up there Queen and the Royal Guard. Only the Lambent and a few COG Gears were left, it was a losing battle but hopefully Delta would pull through, the Soldier looked up towards the roof of the Hotel to see Queen Myrrah's flying mount get bambarded by a Hammer strike causing it to crash down on the roof out of site. The Soldier was jarred from is momentary daze by the Feral scream of a a Locust drone that hadn't made it to the Hotel in time charging at him with a Retro Lancer the Soldier wasn't able to get out of the way in time and was impaled on the Bayonet the Soldier screamed out in pain he pulled the Snub pistol from his hip and jammed the barrel of it into the drones mouth firing until the Drones head was gone the Soldier dropped to the ground the bayonet breaking off the gun as he hit the ground he pulled the blade out of his side cringing from the pain he looked at the wound it wasn't going to kill him immidiately but if he didn't get any help soon he wouldn't last long, he knew there wasn't any chance of getting help, he gripped the wound trying to stop the blood loss as best he could to try and prolong what little time he had left he stood up shakily and looked back up at the Hotel just in time to see the device on the roof fire off something he saw a massive pulse of energy head in his direction just as it got to him he closed his eyes expecting it to kill him, he felt this tingling sensation rush through his body he opened his eyes and realised whatever that thing was it wasn't killing him. He slowly turned around and saw that all the Lambent and Locust remnants were all staggering around some of them already starting to die the Soldier fell backwards propping his back up against a nearby wall slowly sliding to the ground, he couldn't beleive what he was seeing, he let out a weak laugh as the last of the Lambent died off his vision began to slowly fade. His fellow Gears rushed over too him doing what they could to help him but they were already to late. With his last bit of strength before he died the Soldier ripped off his COG tags dropping them on the ground along with his pistol figuring he wouldn't need either anymore he watched with half closed eyes as his fellow Gears followed his example and one by one they all started dropping there tags and guns on the ground around him by the time the last Gear in the imidiate area had dropped everything the Unkown Soldier was already gone. Two other COG soldiers picked up his body and carried it with them deciding to give him a proper burial now that there wasn't anything underground to fear now or ever again.
