Eden Prime was the perfect example of Human potential. They had colonized another planet and were firmly entrenched in the belief that they could protect the planet from any harm. It was the only reason that the Alliance military risked ignoring the warnings of the Council. Who, in light of this turn of events, refused to offer assistance in protecting the colony. The Council preferred keeping colonies inside their territory where they were easier to monitor.
To build one on the edge of the Terminus systems was risking the safety of everyone on that planet. It was known for containing few rules as everyone that lived in the Terminus systems refused to accept the authority of the Council. They had no laws keeping them in check. As such, the Terminus was filled with conflict and people that killed for no other reason than to amuse themselves. Nobody wanted to risk outright war with the Terminus, either.
And to see the beauty of this place. To see the sky a bright red and filled by smoke, to hear the cries of the damned fall on their ears, to just feel the agony that ripped through the once tranquil atmosphere... was humbling. The Alliance was foolish for making this colony. It was better to just listen to the suggestions of the Council and build elsewhere. Maybe the people in this colony would've lived to see another day.
Fuuin was garbed in his own version of the Alliance military armor and his Avenger was collapsed on his back for easier transportation. At his waist, a plain Kessler was kept in case of emergency. He was mainly used for long-range support via his sniper rifle but he was fairly skilled with the pistol. Prior to the Lieutenant joining as the primary leader of the shore team, he was the second-in-command.
Green was garbed in standard issue Onyx armor suited for close-range specialists. His Storm was kept collapsed on the small of his back, near his own Kessler. He was mainly used for close-range fighting and everything about him supported that. His armor was geared for taking more damage and he specialized in using a shotgun. He was damn near built for dealing damage. Prior to the Lieutenant joining as the primary leader of the shore team, he was the one in charge.
The aforementioned brunette was checking over his assault rifle; one from the Lancer series, for any sign of wear and tear. He nodded in satisfaction and looked up to see the others watching him in amusement. "Are you both going to stand there and ogle me or are we going to get this show on the road? I don't want any more people dying on my watch."
Yamashii grinned happily as he watched them look away in annoyance. They had probably hoped he'd make a fool out of himself and prove that he wasn't fit to command. It was insulting... but the man could understand where they were coming from. The Corporal and the Operations Chief were used to working alone and protecting each other on their assignments. And then out of nowhere, here he was being placed in charge of the shore team.
There was no doubt some resentment.
"Aura was dropped off ahead of us to play scout. We need to meet up with her at the dig site, alright?"
"Sir!"
"Sir!"
They wouldn't underestimate him now.

"Fuuin," the Lieutenant whispered. He no doubt had the younger soldiers attention on him and he gestured for him to survey the next area. To check for any enemies that they'd need to eliminate to progress further in their mission. The Corporal nodded and crouched low, going around the bend expecting the worst possible scenerio. He was proven corrent when several Flyers came in and fired at him in tandem, although only one round was able to connect.
The others watched the younger man hit the ground with his hand on his shoulder. It was glowing and the armor was partially melted, meaning that they were dealing with something serious. Their shields could fail on them while they were fighting this enemy. They'd need to exercise great caution or they'd end up in the same position as the Corporal. Now wasn't the time for standing in thought, though.
Yamashii pulled around the corner with his Lancer raised. He pulled the trigger. One of the Flyers flew off course and struck the landscape, exploding on impact. They were left with two. He blinked in shock as he saw his own shields rippling. The Flyers had normal rounds? At least that was better than whatever they got Fuuin with. Duck!
He jumped behind some cover and peaked over the top just in time to see Green tossing a Singularity in their direction. The sphere of dark energy landed in the middle of the machines, pulling them in with a gravitational pull. In seconds, they collided and completely demolished each other. They landed on the floor in a heap, leaving them to care for their fallen comrade.
Speaking of which... "Corporal! You okay over there?"
Fuuin looked at him with something akin to amusement. He pointed to the small injury on his shoulder and rolled it experimentally, gauging the amount of pain he'd be in. The man was satisfied to note that he felt nothing beyond a mild sting. He was clear to continue the assignment. That was good. They'd need his help if they wanted to get through this in one piece.
As prideful as Yamashii was in his prowess on the battlefield, he wasn't cocky. He knew that being in a team was good news, he had someone to watch his back in the thick of things. To keep someone from walking up and stabbing him in the back. His eyes danced cheerfully and he nodded. "Good ta' hear. Move out! We've still got a beacon to grab."
The others fell in step behind him as they marched. He was constantly aware of his surroundings. Looking for the slightest sign of movement in case they needed to defend themselves. Green and Fuuin were in much the same state as he was, their eyes flickering across the landscape. They were starting to near the dig site. It was just around that next hill.
They were all put on guard when the sound of gunfire intruded on their ears. The commotion was close and rapidly nearing their position. Whatever was coming toward them was busy with surviving as long as possible. Probably one of the soldiers that were stationed here on Eden Prime. He motioned for the others to get behind cover and ready for anything. Corporal pulled out his sniper rifle for the occasiona and the Operations Chief had his Kessler at the ready.
Suddenly, a group of... people came around the corner? Yamashii immediately corrected himself as he realized that two of the three were machines and the other was clearly Human. The man was running for his life and firing back on the enemy here and there. No doubt to distract them. Then he jumped behind some cover and gave them the chance they needed. "Fire!"
One of them were dropped in seconds, a sniper round to the head. The other fell shortly after with the combined firepower of him and Green. Whoever the Human was, was still catching his breath behind that boulder. Curious, the brunette approached him. What he saw surprised him. This man was standing well over six feet ( he felt short for the first time in a long time ) and was completely built.
Underneath the Alliance issue helmet, sat a full head of shaggy brown hair and eyes as black as charcoal. "Gunnery Chief Secrecy, sir! Am I to assume that your the one in charge?"
"Indeed you are, Chief."
"Thank you, sir! Any longer and they would've killed me. They've already silenced the rest of my platoon, sir."
"You held your own admirably. Do you know anything about the enemy?"
Fuuin piped up from his place behind the rest of the shore team. "They're Geth. They haven't been seen outside the Veil in awhile. I'm not sure I know the exact date when the last Geth was spotted in either Citadel space or the Terminus."
Great.
They were heading in blind.
Wasn't that nice?
Yamashii thanked the shorter brunette and rubbed his jaw thoughtfully. Now that he had at least some information on the enemy, though he wished the Corporal would've told him sooner, he had to decide on what to do with the Gunnery Chief. Ultimately, the shore team needed every bit of help that they could find on this mission. And the man knew more about the Geth than they did if he saw his entire platoon wiped out by them.
"Come with us, Chief. We could use your help."
"Sir!"
