On a normal day, Ira got out of her bed and headed to the field; walking in the fields with her bow, waiting for animal to come out of hiding for her to shoot. Another place in the fields where it was not seen, a giant bat man a minion of Rithrin the sorcerer of the king Cerberus, was watching Ira in the fields. Ira, waiting for animal to come out, the giant bat man started heading towards her without the girl knowing what is going on.
Out of the trees, a tree bird jumps out in front of Ira “Get on” he yelled
“What? No, why should I?”
“You are in great danger get on now! Giant bat men are coming!”
“Fine” Ira gets on Jalen’s back. Soon as she gets on Ira gets this burning feeling down her arm all the way down to her hand; she didn’t look at what was making the burning she was more worried about the giant bat men that are coming after her. As soon as she is holding on tight, Jalen takes to the skies.
“Where are you taking me and who are you?”
“I am Jalen, and where I am taking you Ira is a place where you will be safe.”
Soaring over the ground, Ira got a little nervous and began trying to find a way off ,“Let me down now.”
“Sorry I can not do that, they want to kill you, the king’s men are after you.”
Ira held on to the tree bird tight so she won’t fall “Why me? I am just a normal girl just like every other girl in the kingdom, nothing special.”
“You mean more than you think, you are a rider now and they will do anything to kill you.”
“I am a rider, to what? I don’t want to be a rider to anything if I have to be killed for it.”
“You are my rider, you can not die if you do this world will fall to the king and no one will be able to defeat the king without you and me so we have to be alive.”
“I am your rider wow, but why me?”
“Yes you, we choose are riders by their hearts and by the courage that we see inside, but I am the last of my kind.”
“Oh, you think I have the courage in me? Well I don’t”
“You might not see it, but I do and I think you will do great.” Jalen landed on a tree far from the fields in the forest that belongs to the king. No one is allowed in the forest without the king’s permission.
“Why are we here?
“We are here because you will be safe here for now, in the treed are the most safest place for you and myself. No one can take down the king with only one of us they need the both us of us alive and healthy.”
Ira sat on a tree branch way high up in the tree, “Won’t the king find us when he has Rithrin on his side?
In the trees you can see all of the forest, you can see if anyone is coming. At the ground there was a bunch of flowers and places to hide that even Ira could hide in, but having a large tree bird your hiding spots are limited to the trees.
“Right now we are safe, that’s all I know.” Jalen tried to hide what he really knew. Ira looked into Jalen’s eyes, trying to figure out what he was hiding from her.
“You know something and you are not telling me, what is it?”
Jalen signed “Yea, I know something, but I can’t tell you what it is, you have to figure it out for yourself.”
“You tell me anything and you expect me to believe you and leave my family behind to go fight a war that I can’t do because I don’t know how to fight.”
Jalen looked up at the skies and noticed the clouds changing to gray, “We should go inside the tree it is going to storm.”
“Go inside where? There is no where to go inside in, there is no buildings all near here.”
“I meant inside the tree, there is a hole that is big enough for you to fit and me as well,” Jalen went in the tree, “Are you coming?”
“Yeah, I am coming,” Ira crawled into the hole and sat near the entrance. The burning on Ira’s arm came back and she looked down on her arm, “What on earth is this?”
She freaked out so bad that she fell out of the tree and started to fall from ten feet high. With-out Jalen coming, her hand was in the air and she cried out, allt of the sudden she was flying into the sky back up to the branch she was sitting on. “How did that happen?
Jalen comes out of the tree “How did what happen?”
“You didn’t see what just happened? I fall out of the tree and my hand was up and flew all the way back up to this very spot.”
“Oh, are you ok? Do you feel weak or anything?”
“I am fine, I freaked about my tattoo on my arm because it was burning. I am more freaked now about what just happened. What was that do you know?”
“That is called magic, you have it, the tree birds are supposed to have it too, but I do not have it. I am glad you have figured it out that you have the magic, but you must come on in the tree it is safer for you, not to mention you need to get some rest. We have a big day in the morning lot miles to kill.”
“Ok, lets go to sleep, but I call the farthest way from the entrance,” Ira enters the tree and lays and goes to sleep. Jalen joins her in the tree.
