Bᴜᴄᴋɪɴɢ Bʀᴏɴᴄᴏ Tʜᴇ Rᴏᴅᴇᴏ Pᴏɴʏ
Name: Bucking Bronco You can call him.. Buck, Bronco Sex: Stallion
Reference/Description: Bronco is an adult stallion who is both taller and buffer than the average pony. His coat is a single dark gray color, perfect for hiding dirt from a long days work. His mane and tale are kept short out of personal preference, and are the color of pale dust. Bronco’s eyes are a piercing blue, a stark contrast to his dark coat, and only serve to intensify his normally strong gaze. One of Bronco’s more unique features is the gold nose ring in his snout, similar to how a bull would wear theirs, and he never takes out. Ever. He also wears a plain red bandana around his neck, and though once bright, it is now dull from dirt and time (he's not a fan of taking it off and washing it).
Cutie Mark and Meaning: Lasso around horseshoe. Symbolizes his love of the Pony Rodeo in general, with a nod towards his specialty. Special Talent: Lasso work Occupation: Professional Rodeo Pony Hometown: Dodge Junction Currently Living: Dodge Junction Personality: Bronco is a rough and tumble sort of pony, enjoying work he can perform with his own two hooves. His lack of tact can often lead to other ponies thinking he’s a bit mean, but a life out in Dodge Junction doesn’t leave too much time for thinkin’ over your words (at least, that’s what Bronco thinks). He’s more than willing to help out his fellow DJ ponies, just don’t ask him to do your taxes or get real technical.
Likes: +Dirt. He loves everything about it; from the smell to the gritty feeling it gives his mane after a long day of hard work. +Milk. Nothing better than a large, cold glass at the end of the day. Growing up on a cattle farm will do that to you. +The Rodeo. Need I say more? Hates: -Bathing. He would rather hang by his nose ring than climb in a tub with soapy bubbles. He's a very smelly pony as a result. -Magic...though hate is a strong word for it. He just doesn’t see the sense in something that is just a bunch of hooey. -Flight. Take this pony off the ground and he dissolves from a strong, stern stallion into a trembling colt. Needless to say, he will never set hoof in a hot air balloon.
Flaws: He’s highly distrustful of Pegasus ponies, thinking they don’t have a lick of hard work in their bodies. Unicorns aren’t much better, but at least they don’t have their heads in the clouds (even if they are too wordy at times). Bronco also isn’t what you’d consider smart. If it’s not something he can wrap his hooves around and fiddle with, he’s more than likely to give it a good stare down then a swift kick. Strengths: Incredibly strong which comes in handy while throwing a rope around some cow’s neck. Also talented at lasso making and using that lasso to do just about anything (he’s fond of showing off to the younger ponies).
Bio: Bronco grew up on a sizeable farm just outside Dodge Junction, owned by his parents that focused on raising cattle and providing milk for the surrounding area. While Bronco enjoyed working with the cattle, he found the milk business a bit too technical (and he could never quite get the hoof of milking) and spent much of his time pulling wagons full of hay and herding the cattle from one pasture to the next. He loved the sun on his flank and the dirt in his mane at the end of a long day.
Much of the time on the farm was spent working, except for a few days of the year when they would host the local rodeo. Bronco grew to love those days, and would spend hours watching the ponies roping cattle, jumping hurdles and practicing their lasso skills. He began to practice these skills himself, after his work at the farm was done of course, roping fence posts, large jugs of milk and sometimes his own parents. It was the first time he entered the rodeo that he earned his cutie mark, hearing the roar of the crowd and the stomping of supportive hooves. Bronco beamed and gave one of his best performances in the lasso competition, culminating in the appearance of his cutie mark.
His distrust of Pegasi stems from a particularly lazy few who managed the weather in Dodge Junction. The cattle of his parent's farm needed fresh grass to graze on, which could only grow if the conditions were favorable. The head pegasus was slow and lazy, preferring naps to actual work--unless there was a mention of bits to be made. Each year Bronco's parents were expected to produce their "fair share" or risk being left out of the spring rains. This sort of laziness that was only swept away by bits stayed with Bronco as the overarching personality for all pegasus ponies.
