The Journal of a Miss Chase
Rachel
Some might think that a life without love, without a soul, would be intolerable. Perhaps it was. Rachel never noticed the difference though. She clearly remembered the days when she had roamed the earth, reaching her heart out to others and receiving feelings in return, but there was no remorse in her. There was a good chance that he had taken that away from her too when she had fled his evil domain.

Rewind to seven hundred years in the past. That number is virtually to the day, according to the calendar that Rachel has kept on her kitchen wall since normal life was resumed again, and you will find the same physical woman. Beautiful, graceful, and full of life. Men were drawn to her like moths to a flame although not all of them fell in love with her. Despite her appearance, it was only natural that not every man would fall in love with her. Rachel was known to be a little fierce at times when it came to those that challenged her beliefs and dealing with those dull enough to pick on the weak when she was around. In the year 1324 that intimidated men, believe it or not. Women were supposed to be dainty, quiet and obedient and yet Rachel could match almost any male in her village when the mood was right and despite her petite frame, she could pack a mean punch as the local legends told. Those that were attracted to her were wise to play as her equal, rather than her better and Rachel found herself with a great many suitors when it came time to finally settle down and start a family just as many of her friends had already done. It was on the eve of her birthday that Rachel was returning home from the church when she was jumped by a bandit. He tried to bargain with her: her purity for her life. Being highly religious at the time though and with her suitor in mind, Rachel refused. At the time, giving up one’s purity was erasing you from society. You were no longer the woman that everyone cared for but a whore and no longer of any worth to any man, no matter how much he cared for you.

The bandit stayed true to his word though and when Rachel turned to run back to the sanctuary of her Lord’s arms she found a knife embedded deep between her shoulder blades before she had even managed to cover ten feet between them. When her eyes had opened, it was not the world she knew. It was Hell. Turns out that everyone ends up there because, being human, everyone makes sins and have to be judged by what was known as the Decider. He would send you to where you would receive your punishment and there you would spend your sentenced time until God would welcome you into His grace. In the meantime though, life was spent as a spirit. On Earth it was known as Purgatory, or Limbo, but it was simply another Hell. Living life among the living but not being a part of it and occasionally torturing yourself by watching the ones you had once been so close to going on with their lives and dying without a single thought for your lost body. Rachel spent nearly fifty years watching for her Judgment Day and when she finally stood before the Decider, she was eager to simply begin her punishment and be on her way to Heaven.

Even that was too much to ask for though. It was on this particular day that Lucifer decided to pay a visit. For what reason she never knew but the moment his eyes fell onto her damned soul, he was bewitched. She was a rare specimen for her time and when he slipped her out of the line and down to his dark castle of sin and woe, he was already keen on keeping her forever. Rachel assumed that he had never done such a thing before, as she was the only semi-free woman in his castle, but she yearned for her Earth. Already it was clear that she could not go back to the Decider to reap her punishment and be over with her cursed existence, seeing as Lucifer would merely find her and take her away, so Heaven was also out of the question. The only thing left was Earth. Lucifer had yet to put her to good use but Rachel could sense his lust for her body and his greed for her emotions and mind growing every single day. He wanted her to belong entirely to him. To think, breathe, and feel nothing but him.

During one of his extended absences to the far reaches of Hell, Rachel made her escape. It was pure luck on her part, finding her way through the maze of the castle and to the portal to Earth but she had not lingered much on how she had gotten there. Just that freedom was just a breath away. When she passed through the mesmerizing vortex of putrid colors that warped her to modern day Ireland there was one thing that she had not counted on. Lucifer had somehow tagged her soul. So as she passed through the portal, her body had made it to the other side but her soul was trapped in Hell with Lucifer. There was no torture or act that he could do upon it but Rachel found herself lacking many emotions when she began to travel around Europe. She could feel content, happy, mildly sad, and perhaps a tint of pleasure in everyday things she had once felt such things before in her past life, but everything was deadened. It was not the same. There was no emotion for grief or regret though and she continued her life, watching the years go by and her body never change. She was often uprooting the comforts of her life to keep her immortality secret.

Over the centuries, Rachel had accumulated a fortune beyond any other and used private banks exclusively for her to keep it a secret. Any attention drawn to herself would mean an investigation which then meant Lucifer or crazed Christians would find her and both would have very cruel consequences for her if she was found. So Rachel lived a luxurious but not overly extravagant lifestyle and though the starlight that had now taken over the minds of everyone tempted her, she stayed quiet and content in her mansion waiting for opportunity to present itself in the form of an angel or a human that might be able to help her feel once more. It was a dim hope though when nearly a millennium had already passed and Rachel was moving on with herself, trying to find new ways to entertain her consistently bland mind.

The quiet tap of her expensive, blood red heels on the concrete gave Rachel a sense of strength and power. She was embracing the movement of women taking over corporate offices and powerful jobs and she was aiming to be a quiet victor at the top of the tsunami. Her job was that of the majority of her co-workers, dull cubicle computer watcher, but already she sensed that her work was becoming appreciated by those higher up. Which was where her work belonged – in the limelight. Rachel had spent a good deal of time expanding her knowledge in universities around the globe and if she was not the best at most everything, there was simply a fault in the schools she had attended. At least, in her mind it was their fault. The further along the sidewalk she progressed though, the more discomfort she felt. It was a mere disruption of her usual pattern and slowing down to a halt she peered around. There was not a suspicious soul in sight and yet it grew stronger. Someone was watching her though her lack of a soul made it more difficult to sense whether it was simply out of curiosity or in lust or evil thoughts. Her pouty lips pursed in agitation and beginning to walk again she became more and more paranoid, her eyes darting around constantly to catch the eye of whoever was staring. Rachel was doing her best not to jinx herself by thinking of himbut she could not help it. She had not felt this unsettled since the last time she had nearly been caught in Vienna and even then she had only managed to slip away because he had not seen her and now she knew that someone was staring at her.

((PM me to continue! I have some other RPCs that I can show you and I am open to other ideas. I know this is long, and you don’t have to write this much, although I do appreciate some quantity. More quality though. I need creativity and excitement! Make me want to respond to you! If you have any questions just PM me and I hope you will respond! Just so long as you can make your character intriguing and keep the roleplay moving and alive, I will take any kind of character!))
