With a relieved sigh, you opened the door to your house and stepped in, locking the door behind you. Darkness greeted you, but this was not unexpected given that it was late and everyone else was asleep. The day had been a long one and you were looking forward to the ever-comfortable confines of your bed. You turned on the light switch, yet instead of the luminous light you expected, it flickered for a moment before dying. Odd. You frowned before stumbling a little further into the sudden darkness that encompassed you. The second you moved forward it was as if you had stepped into a freezer; the air so cold that your breath was clearly visible when you breathed. Your heart skipped a beat when before you a glow began to form in the darkness. It slowly, almost teasingly, increased in brightness until it was a white hovering ball of fire. You stumbled back in fear and immediately hit the door, the impact so violent it made you nauseous. A whisper drifted across the air and you struggled to make it out.

"Boooooooooo,"

You blinked. Was that a "boo"? You watched, jaw slack, when a form began to form around the fiery white ball. A translucent form of a boy, late teens and wearing a jersey, appeared before you.

"I ammm a ghooossttttt," He moaned, stretching his words out, "Spppoookkkkyyyy."

You glanced around, searching for a camera or something. Nope. This was a legit ghost. He continued to moan and groan, lifting his hands as if to be menacing.

"You've got to be kidding me." Your words made him stop moaning. With that performance, you were not even afraid of the fact that this was a real ghost standing before you.

You heard a sigh and a girl's voice spoke, "I told you not to say that..." A girl's form appeared next to the boy, her hair as white as clouds and eyes as blue as the sky at high noon. She was shaking her head, "I told you that you would not scare anyone by doing that."

The guy frowned, "Yeah, but that's what ghosts always do in the movies. It's sppoookkkyyyy."

You could not help but interject, "Not really."

The guy looked wounded by your words and frowned.

"I told you," the Phantom said with another sigh, "Come on, clearly you need more training." She shot you an apologetic look, I am so sorry about this; he's new." She grabbed him by the arm and forced him away, disappearing through a wall. Even with them out of sight, you could hear the boy complaining about how it indeed had been spooky.

The light flickered on and you were temporarily blinded. When you vision cleared you saw a small present resting at your feet. An apology for what had just happened.

Happy Halloween!
